This pub is a little gem.
Family friendly, dog friendly accompanied by well behaved humans. Bar snacks & pies available. Excellent friendly bar service offering a well kept deep cellar with lines cleaned after every barrel offering a reasonable selection of real ale, lagers, ciders and a superb selection of gins.
An outside clean garden area offering chairs and superb views of the valley.
There is a good live music bi weekly session on Sundays to mooch around, drink and relax to.
Come in, you won't regret it.

A nice range of select real ales, ciders, gin blends and spirits. A traditional local pub, usually with local musicians every few weeks. I have certainly enjoyed the warm welcome from the staff and the other customers, and the lovely atmosphere tonight. I will definitely return for more!

Another lovely early evening in the Thorn Tree. Warm sunny day so grabbed a couple of tall chairs and sat in the beer garden, looking at the fabulous view and drinking great beer, perfect!

Lovely pub reminiscent of how pubs used to be. Good beer, at a fair price.

At the junction of Swinney Lane and  Chesterfield Rd, this traditional pub lies just a few minutes walk from the centre of Belper.   We were impressed from the outset by this cozy boozer, the entrance being on the Chesterfield Rd side.   Four hand pumps were on, we tried three and all were in tip top condition.  The landlady knows her beer and clearly maintains a high standard, in their freshest condition they were all hard to stop drinking.  Moderate background music did not intrude over the chat of loyal regulars whose dogs are welcomed.

To the rear of the bar is a larger seating area with leather sofas, and the outside covered decking area has some beautiful hillside views.  Clean throughout including toilets, this is a well kept real ale pub which we really could not fault.

Stopped off here for a pint after a walk from Ambergate. Ended up staying for 4! A combination of top quality beer, a lovely landlady and super friendly regulars made it really difficult to leave. We'll be back very soo.
