The Swallowtail

We have just put our boat in the marina here for the season and are so glad we did. The Swallowtail is the marina bar and restaurant. It has a fantasic view over the marina, a great relaxed atmosphere and is very friendly indeed. I can see we will be frequent visitors.

Excellent food, fast service, modern clean and tidy.
My fish n chips was cooked just right and well presented. Lovely sitting out on the balcony taking in the view. My friends were also very impressed with their meals. Plenty of parking. Will definitely visit again!
Just visited again and had Cajun chicken and rice. Lovely! Fast service, well presented food.

Went for a birthday party at weekend and it was very organized and friendly although a few people had slight issues with their food, this was soon put right and a discount was offered at the end of the meal. Fish and chips were lovely though! A nice location for a drink or meal.

Oh dear! Very disappointed!!!
The views are nice over the boatyard and our waitress was very nice. However, after ordering we were told that there was no whitebait or salmon and tempura prawns were off the menu too!
Breaded mushrooms(meager amount) arrived with warm lettuce leaves, hunters chicken was very dry and a sweet potato curry wasn’t up to much either. The entire menu seemed to be made up of food that had to be deep fried, shame but we won’t be coming again !

Could be a lovely venue but I think the new management are somewhat lacking in their customer service. I attended a birthday party which had been planned for months; new manager tried to cancel then, the day of the party, having agreed a time window when folk could come in to decorate, announces that the Swallowtail would no longer provide food or a DJ since they didn’t know whether or not my friend was coming….. this despite several confirmation conversations in the days before. Clearly, given the lateness of ‘cancellation’, (no professional venue starts food purchase and preparation hours before an event), staff at The Swallowtail never had any intention of providing food and used this as an excuse.

Probably a delightful place if you’re a member of the yacht club but not welcoming to the local community outside of that.

Staff very helpful and good service
Food not so good, several starters and mains were off the menu and useless you like fish and chip, leather chicken wrapped in leather bacon or a fry up the rest of the menu was very very limited.
This could be a wonderful restaurant, it has the location and the out side space is great
Someone needs to get a grip with regard to the menu and kitchen staff
If you can’t provide what’s on the menu then don’t have a printed menu, have a black board with meals of the day.

Excellent venue and food was soooo good, would definately recommend Mike, Kay and the staff are great.

Excellent lunch, delicious burgers. Great gin selection. Thank goodness for the new management( summer 2022)!!
