Excellent, tasty Sunday roast beef and chicken lunch served at this fabulously friendly dinning pub. Young, friendly staff served us helping to choose cocktails 🍸 and red wine. Recently refurbished, we loved the high seats and tables in the corner by the fire, (not in use as it's summer at the moment). The ambience had a relaxed village pub vibe with an enclosed back garden and plenty of parking spaces. This lovely pub is dog friendly and went out of their way to welcome us and Bertie with out any question.

I visited for Sunday lunch. The staff were all young but looked very smart in their "The Gate" uniforms and gave excellent friendly service. I chose the confit pork belly which came with mixed veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, apple sauce and gravy. It was nicely presented and the pork was both very tasty and meltingly tender. I'm in the area for a few days and can see myself visiting again before I head home.

I first found the Gate a few years ago and it was the first choice for our wedding reception, however the management at the time left a lot to be desired. After a change in plans, and news of new ownership, I went to visit the Gate again and it was back to our first choice! Ben, Evan & the team have put life back into the pub!

We held our reception here recently and it was exactly what we wanted, relaxed with great food (fresh and reasonably priced) & drink (with Evans impressive knowledge & guidance on drinks!). We had so many comments from our guests that they loved the pub, the food & service.

The service really is the standout feature of The Gate - especially impressive from a young team. Professional yet super friendly & personable. You really do feel welcome here.

Been here mostly on the weekends for lunch, the food is always delicious and there's a wide selection of drinks
I recently went for a weekday lunch and it was just as yummy
I had the cauliflower bites with Firecracker Sauce and they were very tasty with a nice kick 🌶️ and the gate fried chicken burger for my main, which was cooked to perfection 👌🏼
Myself and my friend were fussed over during our visit, which was lovely 😊

Lively pub on a Saturday night. Very busy and noisy but an atmospheric place to be. Had a nice pub meal with old friends. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely Gate muffin breakfasts. Sausages was yummy. Recommend this breakfast as a lunch for me.

My parents were looking for a low-key, semi private venue for a small wedding reception during lockdown (Sept 21). We met with Ben who instantly knew exactly what we envisioned and more! As restrictions lifted the numbers grew however Ben and the team were always happy to accommodate.
We hired a marquee (on Ben's recommendation) in their private garden with beautiful tables and chairs, outside seating was also available which was ideal as the weather allowed us to make the most of the whole space.

The BBQ food served to our guests was delicious, everyone commented how good the food was for "a pub", the choice was excellent and the extremely friendly staff went above and beyond.

The wedding ran smoothly, the venue set up was perfect and we're so happy to have celebrated at The Gate - Thank you so much Ben, Evan and the team!

Lovely lunch with friends. Very cold day but pub warmish, extreme weather though. Food super, lovely fish and chips, steak, lamb shank. Friendly welcoming team.
