We visited 19/2/22
Nice little pub full of olde world charm, with a warmth of character from the building and from the friendly landlords from Manchester.
They've been running the pub since December 2021 and only started serving food in the last couple of weeks, very tasty and very well presented too, my husband and I had the 100% homemade beefburgers (I'm not much of a fan of burgers but I saw one come from the kitchen for another customer and just had to try one) it didn't disappoint it was awesome ☺️
Our friends had the steak and ale pies that should have been with mash and veg but they asked if they could have chips instead, and their request was met.
Locals and tourists all friendly and chatting together and their dogs were made welcome too (with the fella from the bar bringing out dog chews for them).
Tony and Scott (hope I got the names correct) are doing a grand job.
One tiny thing is the smokey/soot smell in the snug due to a blocked flue, so the open fire wasn't lit in this room but they are in the process of getting that sorted so as soon as that's sorted 5/5.
Food 10/10 😋
My husband said it was the best pint he had for the whole weekend too, pint of real ale called Eureka.
Thanks for the lovely welcome and the lovely food fellas.
Toni, Gary & friends 👍💪🙌👌

Awesome little pub with loads of character and an amazing range of beers and ales. Open fires make the place so homely

A small but traditional English Pub which has a range of craft ales. There is a small lounge area to the left which İ think you can hire for a group. it's private apart from the toilet entrances that are in the corner. Snacks are available and it's a good place to spend an hour or two. The landlord is friendly and all the staff are helpful. Recommended.

A really warm and friendly welcome with lots of laughs. Great value for money. Very good selection of drinks and the food was the best we had had on our visit to Cumbria. And dog friendly to boot! What more could you ask for. If we are ever back in the area we will be definitely paying a visit.

A local pub reopened a few months ago. Just starting to rediscover it. And love it. Great selection of beer and nice wine. Love the little side
An old fashioned up but so cool...

Quaint old fashioned pub with a querky layout. The staff seamed friendly but the prices seemed high, but I guess that's the way things are going in this economic crisis. I believe they now do food, which I confess I've not tried, but two gents who were there at the time were complimenting the staff after their food. Also of interest there is now some outside seating at what I understand is one of the only public houses on consecrated church land.

Wow what an amazing lunch ! Sunday roast was beef and my Fiancé chose the beef and ale pie. Both were served with mashed potato and root vegetables with a jug of tasty gravy. A "must do it again". The price was very reasonable too with 4 drinks and a starter it's a no brainer.

Excellent food, fantastic and friendly customer service, great range of local ales, very reasonable prices. A real fire on chilly days if needed and a good outdoor seating area on those lovely sunny days. A traditional old classic pub with a wonderful history and full of character.
