Come here for the first time today for lunch. The pub is very nice inside and has a lovely outdoor terrace which is great in the summer. We had a 3 course set lunch menu. The food was expectional. I opted for the pork belly which melted in my mouth. The presentation of the food was spot on and the overall service was brilliant. I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Lovely decor and my meal (prawns and squid) was delicious but the baguette was a bit if a disappointment as the SFC was cold so the cheese wasn't melted, fries were lovely though. Our cups were also really filthy they were probably water marks from a dishwasher but it was very clear to see

Lovely meal at The Waterside tonight. Food is always cooked just the way we like it. Beautiful garden along the river which is always tidy and is fantastic when the weathers lovely. All of the staff are always friendly and Sam, Lily, Chloe and Adelaide are assets to your team. Highly recommend the chocolate fudge cake for desert 🍰Will definitely be visiting again soon 😀😀

The outdoor seating area in the summer is absolutely incredible, but the food has room for improvement. Our party had a mixture of the salads and found them to be overly oily but generously portioned. Overall, great vibe, but wish the food quality could be improved a little!

The positives first, setting is lovely and the food has been good about 80% of the time. The big negative is the staff, or one in particular.
There is a younger lad who is very polite and very helpful, quite new i think. There is a lady however, who is absolutely neither of those things. I smiled, was polite and got nothing in return, apart from a sour expression and a curt response. I will say however that the next customer , (there were only 2 of us, so she wasn't short of time) got a friendly and polite welcome and response. I have lived in Ware for nearly a year , come in once a week and have had the same reception from this particular bar person, whenever she is the one serving, hence this review. How many 'off' days can one person have? particularly whose job it is to be be polite and friendly. I won't be returning, and given the drop in review score that this pub has had since I moved here, the manager may not need to look further for a reason as to why. This is not the only good pub in the area, Far from it in fact and In the others I have not encountered this kind of 'attitude'.

Great food at good prices.
Staff very welcoming and friendly.
Good location next to the river, lovely to sit out during the summer.
Disability friendly.
Parking though tight around back of the pub

food was mid, ordered cheesy garlic bread and it looked like a loaf of hovis, same with the bread and olive oil. drinks took over half hour because their "system was broke" absolutely shocking won't be returning not worth the price. only upside was that the drinks were nice when they finally arrived.

Me and a friend had lunch here for the first time last week with our 10 month old babies.
I asked the lady behind the bar if she could ‘pin’ my babies food in the microwave, so she asked her ‘manger’ & came back to say ‘no’.
So I asked if I could have a bowl of hot water to sit the food in and again she got told ‘no’.
Once he came past I asked him and he very abruptly said ‘no’
When I asked him why?! he had absolutely no explanation apart from ‘we can’t do that’
As I was trying to talk to this man he was walking away from me, no eye contact, cold & rude attitude.
I was going to explain my baby has a dairy allergy so its tricky with what he can eat.
In the end I was reluctantly given a mug with hot water, so why couldn’t I of just had a bowl?!
I could not believe how rude this ‘manager’ was, he has absolutely no people skills, his customer service is shocking and quite frankly I think he is in the wrong industry.
Even the lady behind the bar looked close to tears because of this guy.

He also refused to lend my friend a phone charger and told her ‘they didn’t have one’ when In fact they did, as another member of staff gladly put her phone on charge.

As for the food it was ok, I had the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich. It tasted nice but was difficult to eat because the bread just fell apart.

Unfortunately I didn’t get this ‘managers’ name because he couldn’t stand still long enough but from our experience he has no idea how to ‘manage’.
