Shamblehurst Barn is a lovely old structure with some really interesting decor. It is at heart a chain pub, so the food comes from this chain menu -acceptable, fairly consistent but not great.
It is always hard getting a steak cooked with no pink, but also not cremated, and our visit here was no different. The steak was still too pink after a second cook and I then gave up. The other meal and the drinks were fine.
The service of the food and condiments was great, friendly and helpful, but the welcome when we walked in, was luke-warm at best -
Us: We are a bit early, we have a booking for 12
3 chatting servers look over and without taking our name 1 waves a hand: Take any table you like
And with that they went back to chatting.
Having waited a bit to see if there was table service we decided there probably was not, and went to the bar to order.
If you know the rules, and have a favourite meal that you know they will cook well, this is probably a nice atmospheric pub to visit.

First time here but was really impressed by service and food! Lovely young lady showed us to our table and told us about how to order our food (we went through the app) and the food came very quickly and was good stuff, i had a mix of chicken wings, onion rings and a corn of the cob and my mum had a curry and we both said was very good! And they offer student discount which is nice when your struggling with prices. Will definitely return!

Had an absolutely delicious meal at Shamblehurst with my parents, wife and child. Very family friendly. Lovely food which was very reasonably priced! We were also extra lucky to happen to go when they had a magician entertaining the guests! Thoroughly recommended.

Today we arrived at 3pm to have a bite to eat. Only two tables taken with diners. But we were told they were fully booked. So at 3pm they were expecting all these people. The truth would have been better accepted. No staff or no chef. Life happens. Looking at past reviews. Food looks unappetising anyway. No we didn’t book. We were passing. It’s a chain pub. Passing trade!

My friend an I had a super lunch here today. First time visiting, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The portions were great although too much for me. We will return again soon. Thank you

When i eventually got served by a very busy barman i ordered drinks, then after looking at the menu i had to wait a while again to get served i was told that there were about seven meals unavailable but managed to get something in the end. After waiting forty five minutes we got our meals but had to ask for cutlery and condiments. Whilst there i needed the toilet only to be faced with a disgusting site that i know has been like this for weeks. 100% of urinals out of use, 50% of basins in use and the one and only cubical was disgusting. I will not ever be going back there and would recommend the same to anyone else.

My first time in this establishment and four of us had meals from the breakfast menu. The meals were generously portioned and freshly cooked.
The breakfasts are presented in varying formats and can be chosen according to your own appetite. The pricing is fair and the staff were friendly, attentive and eager to make our dining experience a good one. The prices were very good considering the quality and quantity and I would be happy to revisit.

Chicken was awful! Staff didn't care about their customer's and didn't check on us until table was cleared! No cutlery brought with food, no napkins or condiments. Freezer and backup freezer had broken down so no ice-cream for dessert! Main meal had no jacket potatoes or any veg as alternative for GF. Piled plate up with enough salad for a goat! Tea was awful! Good latte! Table of 6! Very dissapointing as this place had an amazing reputation back in the day! Will not return....waste of money!
