Midweek, early evening meal of cod mornay, chips and vegetables, delicious! As was the beer. Friendly, efficient service. Good value.
Fantastic village pub with a strong local following and great atmosphere. Dog friendly.
Highly recommended for humans too!

We were a group of 11 on Friday. We ordered the fish and chips and cabonarra as a take away. All the food was beautifully presented arriving nice and warm and was really delicious. Can highly recommend.

Sadly, the meal we had was pretty poor. Chips were okay, but everything else seemed like it came out of the microwave, and it was expensive for microwave food. Service was slow, but admittedly this was because of a lot of take away orders. It's a shame because we had a fantastic roadt from them last year whilst hiking in the area. I hope it picks up again.

A memorable evening. I could list many things far from perfect though the food was not one of them (pie was exceptional and the rare to get veg so perfectly cooked) and nor was the service. Each little thing became a fun event humerously handled so that it added to the evening. We left very happy and provided you relax and enjoy being genuinely looked after, you will too. The final icing on the cake was when we questioned the bill which missed a couple of beers, we received an apology for not explaining the Tuesday deal. What a truly great evening. Thanks.

What a nice pub. Food was great. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Not a big choice of ale but my IPA was a goodun. Recommended with a five star.

This is a lovely pub to visit, staff were amazing and really friendly, I had a decaff coffee and I was pleasantly surprised when it came out in a lovely large cup and tasted great. Quite often I visit pubs and they bring out a small cup not even 2 mouth fulls and they charge £3.50. This deliciously large coffee only cost £2.50. We are definitely going back for Sunday lunch, as the prices are very reasonable. Will update on that a.s.a.p.

Visited today for the first time. Always a bit reluctant to have a roast out as it’s never as nice as indoors but this was delicious. I had the lamb and hubby had the pork, it was all faultless and the staff are just delightful. So nice to visit somewhere and feel like you really want to go back.

I don’t know where to start for five bells. It’s a fantastic English country pup. Fantastic and very friendly stuff and owners. beautiful garden the best dinners on the South Downs. If you are walking South Downs you must go to five bells to eat or to drink. If you are walking on a Sunday and you are nearby five bells it means it’s your lucky day because five bells is the best place for Sunday roast. You must book in advance to make sure you don’t miss out the opportunity to eat in five bells. Thank you Nill thank you fran thank you Josei Mia and all of you. Lots of love to you all. You are all big stars
