I can't believe you guys are still there! Happy that you are! I used to work up the street at a company called Boston Trust and Savings about 30 years ago. The Landlord was named George, and he was a great bloke, but a little rough around the edges. He had a fun lunch ordering system that confused everyone that had never been there before and got annoyed if they didn't understand it. Loved George, the food and the McMullens beer. So happy this place is still going strong!

5am opening on weekdays. A pub with those hours deserves a five star rating.

One of the last few “proper pubs” outside toilets and all!

A friendly local pub, well attended by neighbours. Choice of drinks good, atmosphere very much a drinkers pub without unnecessary modernisation.

Probably the most traditional ‘boozer’ in St Albans, as can be seen from the photographs. I haven’t had to go outside to the toilets in a pub in many a year!

The clientele is primarily locals, although the atmosphere is welcoming. Three/four well-kept ales on draught; had a good pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Branded as McMullen, although I didn’t see any of their ales.

Definitely worth supporting ‘proper’ pubs such as this one.
