We turned up at 9.15pm for a quiet Sunday evening pint to be told by the surly bar staff, in front of a group still at the bar, and another group sat outside that nowadays they close at 9pm on a Sunday (but that they are open until midnight during the week - ideal for people who do not work for a living, I imagine).

I used to like this pub. With an attitude like theirs now, I shall not waste time or shoe-leather going there again. They do not deserve to be in business.

Tuna steak is extremely salty. They used salted tuna when you’re supposed to use sashimi tuna for this dish. Very poor quality sides as well. Avoid this place like the plague.

What a beautiful pub & welcome. The food was pretty good too but it was the warmth & ambiance that most impressed. Fabulous staff, kind, helpful and attentive. We’ll be back soon, thanks for a great evening.

This is my sons local, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and great cuisine. Just don't take my plate away while my wife is still eating, that's bad. Can't wait to go back again.

Great food, great selection of beers and the food was fantastic.
We used the board room for a private party and it was perfect.
Staff were superb especially the lady who looked after us all - wasn't easy.

Food: 2/10 - just bland; usual roast but totally bland, even the salt was tasteless.
Staff: 3/10 - lady v nice, the guy was incredibly rude - mainly to table next to us when they complained but also dismissive to us.
Ambience: 4/10 was good until the guy complained and was loudly shut down; 'dining room' emptied and then the male member of staff sat down with a huge roast and watched his phone while eating it next to us - we were told they had no more roasts... this place isnt a pub or a restaurant but a half way house surly on the way out (fingers crossed). The hospitality industry lives off heart and love, this has neither.

It was a fantastic experience! From the outside, the neighborhood appears lower-middleclass, and the establishment appears to be a lonely little tavern. Inside, there were only locals, primitive tables and chairs, dogs were welcome, and the meal was incredible, 5-star quality. We started with Scotch Eggs, which were crispy on the outside with slightly spicy sausage and a soft-boiled egg served with a horseradish sauce... YUM! Everything else was likewise well-prepared. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. These are fantastic finds.

The entire team from bar to kitchen staff are absolutely incredible! As a local having the Sand End 100 odd metres from my home with the feel of an independent local is second to none! Highly highly recommended for dinner, drinks or both any day of the week!!

Special mention to the management Reynald and Agatha!!
