Lovely pub, first time visit, busier than what Google times suggested, and was visiting this pub during the announcement of the Queen's death on the news. Eerie and ominous as Prince 🤴 Charles was named King whilst in the pub. Food yummy, drinks drinky.

Service was spot on, food was great. There is a mixture of vibe with locals, families, usuals and history.

Dirty. Staff and management don't care. Lucky this is one of the pubs not closing, should be, and keep another site open. I visit a few spoons on a regular basis, this place has the least busiest bar, but yet place is a mess, nobody cleaning tables, tables not wiped, glasses/bottles everywhere on a lot of visits.

I enjoyed my very 1st traditional English breakfast at The New Crown (JD Wetherspoon). Harsh brown nice and crunchy, not oily, bacon is soooo yummy, not burnt, toast .. argh .. not the normal white but those big loaf, nicely toasted sausages, just rightly cooked, not shrivered .. you just have to pop in and try! I can see many regular customers walking in around 9am. The staff are cheery and helpful showing me where things are, being my first visit. Tables and seats and floor .. they are clean and not at all sticky. I will definitely go back to try their lunches. Given the vfm .. I must try and find the right time to get in 😃😃.

Previously I used to be a regular here because the previous manager did a fantastic job of running this pub efficiently. But now that's no longer the case. Now that the previous manager is gone, whoever this new manager is, is abysmal.

The staff are rude. There is always new staff who are not trained and don't know what they are doing. They are so rude and lazy. Every time I order a certain drink their immediate response is "We don't sell that" and I have to remind them that they do. Whether it's a beer or a cider they claim they don't have it. My friends and I have been buying these drinks in this pub for years. It's clear they can't be bothered to get the drinks or keep the fridges stocked. They constantly complain to me that they have to go "all the way downstairs" to get it. This is not professional customer service. It's disgusting. I do NOT want to hear that when I go anywhere. I don't tolerate such bad attitude.

The service of the food has gone downhill too. As we know, the kitchen closes at 11pm. On two occasions my friends wanted to order some food even though it was before 11pm and the staff would say "No. The kitchen is closed." When in fact it wasn't. Due to such a response we had to complain to the manager who eventually made the staff take their orders. This is not one individual we're talking about here, it's every single staff member who start working here untrained and have the nerve to mistreat customers. Such rudeness from staff is unacceptable. The service has also slowed down. The lack of hospitality here is ruining this pub.

The place is dirty and needs tidying. Nearly every single time I come here there are tables that need cleaning even when the pub is not busy. Another clear indication of the lack of attention from the staff.

They need to sort themselves out because right now things need improving, quickly.

Original review:
I am a regular here and here's why:
This place is always clean and tidy.
There is a wide range of food and drinks here and they are well priced.

The staff here are always nice and friendly. They always make you feel welcome. The security is cool and professional.

The food here is delicious. I had an English breakfast here once. Very big and filling.

On one occasion I had a Christmas dinner party and the food was phenomenal. Whatever the meal, whatever the occasion, the food and drinks here makes it joyous.

If you like football and other sports, there are big screen TVs here too. If you like slot machines, they've got them here too.

The walls are decorated with old photos of Southgate which are a nice little history lesson about its fascinating past.

Tonight I treated myself to a strawberry & lime flavoured Kopparberg Cider with some salty peanuts.

Whether you are with friends, family, or solo, this pub has something for you. I highly recommend. So cheers. ^_^

Well, unfortunately work is going on above the pub so the front is covered in scaffolding. And when I was there, there was an electrical fault that caused all the lights to go out (see photos). Having said that, the staff were cheerful and the Guinness was excellent. From what I can tell, the pub is on a single level with the usual variety of seating. Although it's dark, the place still looks clean and tidy with a reasonable number of people in considering the circumstances.

This had to be the best local weatherspoons, it offers very cheap meals and drinks. Located on Southgate High Road, this has been the go to for the regulars over the years.

The all-day breakfast went down a treat, perfect proportions and very tasty.

Customer service is always a pleasure.

5* Would recommend from overall experiences.
