The Devonshire Arms

A very good place to stay - the room was lovely and spacious, very well done up with an incredibly comfy bed and good bathroom. The pub itself is great with delicious food and very friendly and helpful staff in a lovely scenic location. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because they don't do cooked breakfasts, although the continental breakfast basket they offer is very good.

We stopped by for lunch today at the Devonshire Arms in Hartington. The pub staff are extremely friendly, kind and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and not only were there numerous Gluten Free options, even the cutlery and 'plates' for the beer garden were plant based. Amazing! Service was quick too.
The beer garden is very attractive with plenty of tables to choose from. Toilets are top notch and very clean.
Also as an added bonus for us, dogs are very welcome and a water bowl and tap for dogs is provided.

Attentive and helpful service. Though relatively expensive, the quality of the food chosen ( fish salad) was exceptional and worth every penny. A memorable meal. Salad was dressed with olive oil and some lovely balsamic dressing was found in the kitchen when requested.

Lovely welcome and wholesome food. We called in for a pub lunch today and enjoyed excellent pies (chicken and ham, steak and ale). Very well filled and tasty. Would highly recommend for a good meal.

A spontaneous visit after living in the area for nearly 20 years! A quiet rainy Sunday was a perfect moment for a half pint and peanuts. Well, the manager behind the bar was friendly and the atmosphere was great. Tables clean, toilet clean, and no blaring music. It makes me think that the food would be worth a try.
If you're passing through the Hartington village or hiking or wanting a date venue in a charming village setting then this is for you.

Thank you for an amazing dinner! The food was delicious (we had hunters chicken and steak and ale pie) and the unexpected Halloween decoration in the dining room was out of this world! Staff was super friendly. We will definitely return when we visit Hartington next time.

A lovely, welcoming pub. The food was reasonably priced and very quickly served, in fact, I think the speed of food coming out from ordering was a record for me. I had a vegetarian mushroom pie, with veggie gravy, chips and peas and it was perfectly filling. Thankfully I had a little room for the award winning sponge pudding-which lived up to its name. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food is ordered at the bar and brought to the table, although table service would be a plus, it’s understandable with the number and efficiency of staff. Beer was kept well and tasted fresh

Great pub for lunch today. The lasagna was stupendous: our 7yo ate most of an adult portion (and not because the portions are small!!), it was so so tasty! Mrs and I each had the steak and ale pie, and they were simply great. Lovely pub in a lovely village. I hope to come back!!
