Anniversary meal at the Rag, Homemade soup for her that's in charge, squid for me. Both fresh, hot and well presented. Daub of beef followed for me while the boss had salmon, both with veg and potatoes ... marvelous. Finally a waffle with cherries for me and brownie for she who is always obeyed.
Finally Rattler on draught..
After 33 years I reckon it was a great celebration meal.

2 courses for 2 people including a bottle of wine = £40. And with lots of choices and great portion sizes. Like this week I had the corned beef hash with fried egg (just look at it, cooked to perfection!) and a 10oz rump steak with crackin chips and veg. Fabulous!

We have eaten out at a lot of pubs and restaurants in the midlands area, but The Rag is BY FAR the best I have visited in terms of delicious food!! I had the cheese and spinach oatcake, which came with the best tasting homemade chips ever! For dessert I had the warm cookie dough which, again, tasted amazing. Although busy, the service was quick and friendly. I would've given The Rag 5* were it not for a mix up with our table, but we definitely will be visiting again.

Brilliant night. We lucked into a promo deal on the night - 2 courses, 2 people & a bottle of house wine for £40. Wine was better than expected, and though the choices were slightly limited compared to the a la carte menu, the food was excellent.
Will definitely be going back...

We attended the venue again yesterday for Sunday lunch. Two of us absolutely enjoyed 3 courses, I grade the place/ kitchen/ table staff/ambience and charges 5 star. Traditional roasts, baked leeks in white cheese sauce proper veg, real gravy... etc,etc ...and an individual sherry trifle in a wine glass for dessert.( memories) To top that off my favorite tipple/ Ansells Mild. Thankyou owners and team.

This is a lovely, hidden gem near Cannock Wood. Visited here for dinner with a friend on a Friday evening and it was a very pleasant atmosphere for a catchup. We had three courses, and all of the dishes were delicious and freshly made. Would highly recommend The Rag for the food and for the atmosphere!
