Classic English Pub.
Great welcome. Professional, helpful and yet friendly.
If you need food, the sister pub is a stones throw.
Thank you for a comfortable and clean room. Great hospitality and Amazing Value.

Ideal location and description of accommodation is clear.

All the staffs are very polite, friendly and helpful. The room, that I was staying, was very clean and the bed had been nicely arranged. But the problems were the carpets were very old and the showering area wasn't fully covered. Therefore the water was spilling in the floor.

Great place to watch all the major sporting events. Multiscreen, plenty of choice for veer & spirit and a bubbly atmosphere. Eclectic mix of people but a traditional old school boozer

In December 2022 I spent a night in the Tavern. In the evening when I went to the shared bathroom for a shower, I found a RAT watching me from the toilet. I think it had climbed up from the canal on the drain and had stuck in the toilet. I called the stuff but do not know what happened with the rat, as nobody explained me the situation and nobody apologized for the inconvenience. After all I did not use the bathroom, tried to use the toilet only once, and I left the tavern very early. I think I would not have been able to eat or drink there. After my stay I sent messages to the tavern and asked for refund or at least an apology, but the owners did not even reply to my messages.

Stayed the night here whilst traveling between Devon and London and the value is unbeatable.
Large, clean, comfortable room with a traditional sash window.
Although not en suite the shared facilities were absolutely fine. My room had seemingly been recently updated with some smart, modern furniture.
Very reasonable drinks at the bar and a small discount available on food at a nearby pub.
A small charge for luggage but very hospitable with it; I'd certainly stay again.

RE: accommodation

The girl children running the bar on the Sunday night felt running the music at the highest possible volume for their own amusement and the fewer than six patrons was just fine. They tried to tell me I should expect that staying in a pub.

Imagine trying to tell a middle aged Australian what to expect staying at a pub?!

Accommodation in any pub can be a little hit and miss but one gets in the habit of checking out what activities and events they're promoting. Nothing in their media about a Ministry of Sound tribute night for the nights I was booked.
