EDIT...Revisited, sat in the sun on a side table. The people next to us were eating. Collected a menu; was told, you can't eat there. Asked to be seated where we were allowed but could we have a table in the sun please. The bar manager that seated us put us on a table for 2 (as the sun went behind a cloud) and said, "sun's gone in now sir". There were 2 tables in the sun (admittedly for 4 people) but they were empty for a time.
We ordered food and asked the waiter if we could move...he politely said they weren't allowed to move guests to a bigger table because of space.
Finally people did come and sit at those tables but I then saw a couple eating at the table we had originally moved from in the sun!!
When I asked about this, the bar manager said, you can eat snacks and starters at those tables! Considering I had asked 3xs to be seated in the sun I found the outside seating manager rude, unhelpful and condescending. A shame as other staff were cheerful and friendly and it is a nice setting. (We had also asked the same guy on the 1st visit I reviewed and again got put where he wanted even though it was empty at the time! On that occasion I just moved myself as it wasn't busy).
When we arrived we were given the option of sitting inside or outside, we chose outside as it was gorgeous weather. The staff were very polite, professional and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious. I look forward to going back again as it is a beautiful location looking over the downs, very well presented and pleasurable to visit. Highly recommend 👌
If you want things done right, go there!
The person who served food was pleasant enough.
Maybe the workplace culture is too much stuck in the past. Maybe awareness and education about multiculturalism and contribution of everyone should be highlighted. Most of hospitality industry would not survive without foreign workers. In the same way treat a Indian looking customer just like a Caucasian customer.
Everyone should be respected and treated equally. I should have just eaten at the Holiday Inn, where I was staying.
