Came here for a Sunday roast due to the reviews, but it was so bland. Roast potatoes underdone, no sign of garlic or rosemary flavouring that they suggest on the menu, chewy beef, a flat Yorkshire pudding. Even the gravy had no flavour!

This was noted on your printed menu inside the pub, and may have also been on your website too. I see many other people have had issues with their Sunday roast since my review so it’s a shame the roasts haven’t improved. Reader, if you’re contemplating going here for a roast, don’t bother!

One of the worst and most expensive roasts I’ve ever had. Everything was either soggy and clearly microwaved or completely overcooked and dry. The wellington was soggy the whole way through and the filling was just matter. The stuffing was just a stuffing ball you’d get from Aldi. The chicken was completely dry and had to be covered in gravy (which was most likely instant gravy as it had lumps in it). We asked for some cauliflower cheese hoping it would improve the flavour (which they did supply for free) but it was absolutely rancid. Soggy cauliflower with disgusting plastic cheese. Not even worth a fiver let alone £17! A roast Made with ZERO love. Stay away from this place.

My reply -

The chicken roast was completely dry, and yes I asked for a box to take home the chicken because I don’t like to waste food and could have done something with it at home. My partner had the veggie wellington which was really soggy and felt microwaved. I’m happy to talk about this in more detail over email.

Came here for a roast and it may have been one of the worst I’ve ever had. Soggy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and the whole roast was completely bland. £17 was an absolute rip off, I wouldn’t pay £5 for it. Staff were lovely and helpful but that was the only thing going for it. Would not recommend at all.

Decent pub with friendly, hard-working staff and fantastic quiz with Big Dave on a Thursday. Make sure to book as it gets busy. Beware the beer is very, very expensive - even for Oxford - think I paid £6 for a very average ale last time I was there

Came back to this pub after so many years and it has comoletely changed, in the best possible way. Nice and welcoming atmosphere.

Staff were very friendly and on point. Food was very good and prices for food and drink were adequate for Oxford. Will definitely come back again many times.

They claim they have the best Sunday roast... and I cannot agree more with it! On top of the amazing food, the beer selection is huge, and the staff is super nice. The beer garden can’t be more cozy and pretty. Definitely a place to go any time :)

Got to join the chorus of bad reviews re: Sunday Roasts. Stay away! Made a booking on the strength of the sign outside, offering vegetarian roast, pork, and chicken. None of this was on offer, and the guy behind the bar said "oh yeah we meant to change the sign this morning". Properly false advertising, but whatever. Fine: I had fish and chips, other half had a beef roast. It was not good at all. Beef was apparently good but no broccoli which the menu promised, just some boiled carrots, one bit of parsnip, one brussels sprout! Staff were indifferent, just banged the food down and yanked away the plates at the end. A real shame as I normally like this place.

Nice pub with good food but limited choices, the good is the atmosphere is great, you really chill here. One thing you should know is they order on table by downloading the app and pay online.
