The Dog & Gun Thirsk Pub and Restaurant

Tired looking ‘smokers’ type pub.
Thought we were going to another D&G in Thirsk, but our friends had booked the table, so we couldn’t leave.
Food was basic, ok for pie and a pint and to be fair, prices reflect that. Ok for dinner on a budget as lots on the plate.
Chairs were at all different heights around the tables in the conservatory. A little attention would help.

Fantastic pub to visit, staff always make you feel very welcome and can't do enough for you. Food is home cooked and very enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a welcoming visit with home cooked food in the Thirsk area.

Super friendly staff and extremely helpful, food very nice ( the staff even offerd too open the pub to make breakfast for us 👍), which we accepted as and enjoyed the food that much!! ( all extra effort from staff ) 👍we were staying in our camper a few yards away and work was being done on it so having breakfast that morning gave us somewhere too sit and wait also get food too,BONUS😀, would highly recommend the dog and gun pub thank you soooooo much too the land lady for your the effort you put in too make sure we enjoyed our stay and a big thank you too her partner everything!!!

Lovely warm friendly pub food was beautiful

Called in here on Sunday afternoon looking for food and a place to park our Motorhome. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and enjoyed a fabulous Sunday roast (Beef & Lamb shank) followed by a crumble and Sticky toffee pudding. All of it was delicious and home made. We would defiantly recommend this place. Lovely atmosphere and friendly landlord/landlady.

We visited the dog and gun on Thursday 5th jan for a meal at 6pm with 2 familys on a holiday break at woodland lakes lodges. We booked in advanced and was very welcomed by terry and lesley when we arrived. We opened a tab and ordered some drinks.

The waiter was so accommodating with our food orders and lesley came up trumps with some gorgeous food. We had a bit of everything of the menu from starters to deserts and all of it was superb.

We have kids between ages 1-10 years and soon as the kids had finished the ice cream lesley and terry put on disco lights and some music. We had a right laugh dancing and having fun. Darts and a Pool table also was a nice addition aswell.

Would really like to thank Lesley,Terry and the barman and waitress who really made our last night at Thirsk one to remember.

The lodges at woodland lakes were a nice little find but the dog and gun definitely were the highlight of our stay.

We cant wait to book again for next year just to see lesleys dance moves

Left one star because the lady who served us was really nice, here goes...
not a restaurant. served eventually. beer wasn't great. fish and chips the worst I have ever had, the batter was bloody awful. the peas were boiled to death. the chips were fried in what can only be described as very cheap oil.
don't bother going here, and if you think its me look at my previous reviews, none like this.
as for the other reviewers they can only be well, I have no idea.
go to the chippy, that wont cost you £75

Visited this place twice while on our weekend away, both times the staff were really warm and friendly ..... the food was all freshly made and delicious, food and drink all at reasonable prices. Would definitely return ... thank you
