We celebrated my mothers 80th birthday here yesterday, just a small family Sunday lunch. We had a wonderful time, the food was lovely the atmosphere was great. The service could not be faulted. They were all very attentive and made the occasion even more special. There is a beautiful outside area. Thank you so much to all of the team their yesterday!

Very clean & tidy premises with committed & customer focused staff who are highly skilled & who are relentlessly on top of their game. Food was excellent & in generous portions and very reasonably priced and served with a minimal wait. The location is jolly agreeable & the drinks of impeccable quality. Public loos are very hygienic aa a result of being cleaned to a high standard. All in all a very enjoyable visit to a fine rural pub which hopefully will be the first of many.

The venue was not too busy and we were returning from Blenheim Horse Trials so we called in for a drink. A lovely local gentleman recommended the Quality of the food And really promoted the Venue. We followed his advice and whilst trying to choose from the menu the bar staff/manager started to berate the local gentleman, stating if was not his job to talk or recommend anything to customers … he should sit and enjoy his drink!!!the gentleman was belittled! It was very embarrassing for all concerned and may have been overlooked if it was only one comment but if was frightful, continuous and very personnel. We left instantly very offended in particular for the local gentleman who was so polite and did not retaliate to the tirade of insults.

Where is the customer service and courtesy that should be afforded by the hostelry? For goodness sake train your staff better … rudeness should not be tolerated to a paying customer who was friendly and giving us advise supporting the venue!!!

You really deserve to fail.. what a poor business model.

Visited for lunch. The food is excellent and the service spot on.. the staff were very attentive and friendly. Hook Norton ales and a couple of good draught ciders.

Great place to come for a drink.
I haven't sampled the food here yet.
Free parking, friendly staff
In my opinion, this place is definitely worth a visit

Thought we would try The Great Western Arms after a recent change of folk running this business.
1st time here and pleasantly surprised by the service from the polite and efficient staff.
And the menu was very good too.
I chose the steak and wow it was all done perfect.
We also had the beef and sea bass.
10/10 from me for presentation and culinary skills.
Definitely going back and highly recommended.

First time since new owners took over and it was a mixed experience.

On the plus side:
1. Staff were friendly & very welcoming, especially to our dog
2. The food tasted good.

The not so good:
1. Portions were disappointing & the starter in particular was overpriced.
2. Service was mixed - we waited ages for our drinks & had to chase for the extra item we ordered but felt a little rushed through our actual meal - it didn't feel as relaxed as previously.
3. The 12% service charge, which we thought was a bit steep.

We paid the service charge because we could see/hear conversations that made it clear some of the staff were inexperienced & being trained & because there were some positives we would have left a tip. It wouldn't have been 12% though but it didn't seem worth arguing over the difference.

In conclusion, overall we were disappointed & will think twice about going back as it is overpriced & that service charge is very cheeky. However because it used to be our favourite place for Sunday lunch, we might consider giving it one more go after giving it a little time for the new owners and their team to find their feet.

Enjoyed our visit at lunchtime early in the week. Food was ok. Starter good, main course ok but could have been better. Did not think it was up to the standards of our previous visit and was quite pricey.
