I put 3 stars because the pub was nice, this particular beer was lovely, the food that we ordered was very tasty (nachos & chips) and the outside eating area was great.
Unfortunately a comment was made by what we think was the landlord, has stopped me giving 5 stars.
After ordering some simple food as soon as we arrived (nachos & chips, 3 portions of each), then after ordering drinks for 14 people and waiting 20 minutes, we chased our food and got told that, "the kitchen has to cook the food and if you wanted fast food, you should have gone to McDonald's"!!!
We felt this was a bit unnecessary and tainted our visit.

Lovely pint of Polly’s on draught, but couldn’t have been made to feel more unwelcome by the middle-aged, miserable bar-man/owner/landlord (whatever he is). My question of, ‘do you have any more tables next door?’, rudely responded with ‘it’s the restaurant next door, it’s full.’ while looking like someone had just thrown his cat out a 12th story window. I proceeded next door, just to see what it was like as it seemed like a lovely pub, with a lot of character (unlike the bar-man/owner/landlord), and behold, there was an empty table, what were the chances. We were looking at the food menu, as they has ample Gluten Free options available, and even before we could ask anything about the food, we got a very abrupt ‘WE’RE FULLY BOOKED AND WE CLOSE AT 3.’ I thought, dear me, this man woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I decided there and then, that I actually didn’t want anything to do with this establishment, even with it’s decent dietary options. I’d rather cook a full Sunday roast from scratch than talk to the extremely un-hospitable man again. Not a pleasant experience, and will definitely not be returning.

Stopped here for a light lunch whilst on a bike ride in the hills on a very cold day. Greeted by two friendly ladies in a bar with a roaring fire. Took the soup of the day served with thick cut toast and a generous wedge of butter and half a craft ale. Both delicious and well presented. Landlord could do with a filter, shouting through the front door to ask if there was anyone in 'cos there's a bike out ere!!'.

Nice country village pub with a good selection of both local and branded beers. Food available but at limited times, check Web for details. Friendly staff. Limited accessibility due to age of building
