I love this place. The staff are very warm/welcoming, absolutely lovely. They have good food at very reasonable prices. But best is the location. Right on the River Dee, across from the church. This is an excellent pub!

I haven't actually eaten my dinner yet but with staff as lovely as they are here I don't care much about the food. I'm gluten intolerant and they really care. They're kind and human and the place is beautiful.

What a lovely pub! The staff were really friendly and efficient, couldn't do enough for us. The food was really tasty and not too expensive neither. We were blessed with the weather (Aug 22) and to sit outside right by the river and church the views are gorgeous. But even the inside of the pub is so cosy and the toilets spotless. Would definitely recommend. I'll be back anyway!

A warm welcome at this clean and fresh pub. Staff very attentive and one of the best Hawaiian pizzas I have ever had! Central for some lovely walks and convenient for the racecourse.

Abysmal - The Royal Oak claims to serve "quality food". It does not.
We visited and ordered two philly steak sandwiches and chips. The meal was well presented and the waiting staff were excellent but the steak was in the main chunks of fat and gristle. How a chef could have carved it and served it in a sandwich- defies belief !
We pointed this out to the waitress who subsequently returned from the kitchen with a half hearted apology from the kitchen pointing out that steak can be fatty (in other words we didn`t know what we were talking about and should have been grateful for a sandwich of fat and gristle) , though an undertaking was made to raise it with the supplier. Quite what consolation this was- I am unsure !
We paid the bill and left -never to return.

Extortionately expensive and miserable bar tender.
£12.45 for a medium Pinot Grigio and a pint of Guinness!

After reading all the very good reviews about this pub, we decided to pay a visit.
I wish we hadn't bothered. The staff member behind the bar on the Wednesday evening August 2022 was very grumpy.
Hardly a word spoken and no hint of a smile.
Then to be charged over £12 for two drinks was rediculous.
Needless to say, we won't be visiting again and I definitely won't be recommending to others.

Fantastic place to grab a roast dinner, one of the best I've been to. There are lots of places around that skimp out on this sort of meal who use anaemic looking beef and watery gravy.
This is not the case here, you can smell when this dish is on its way to the table, rich gravy, crispy Yorkshire pudding and amazing roast potatoes.

Overall a very enjoyable experience, with pleasant staff and warm atmosphere too.

If you want quick service, and horrible food, go to McDonald's. If you want food that wasn't cooked in a microwave, I would go here. The food took a while to turn up, but that's not a problem if its nice. I had the mushroom starter, and fish and chips for main, with a side of onion rings, followed by sticky toffee pudding. I can't complain about any of it. The chiabatta was nicely toasted and still crispy (other review said their was soggy - mine wasn't) the fish and chips was spot on, and the onion rings were too.
I have a big appetite, and I was full after this. However, I had my arm twisted by my Mrs, to get pudding. It was almost uncomfortable to eat, but it was very nice!
If you have a normal appetite, I'd go for two courses, not three.
Staff were on the ball, always asking if everything was OK, and if we wanted anything else.
I would go back again.
