Went on my birthday, service was slow, despite it not being that busy.
Since going a month earlier earlier the price of everything on the entire menu had gone up by at least £2.
My partner had sausage and mash with peas for £14.50. Probably the most I've ever paid for sausage and mash. The sausages were nothing special just normal sausages. The mash was horrendous and the portion was tiny. For the price i would have expected a large portion of seasonal vegetables. The worst bit however was the gravy, basically brown water it was really disappointing.
I had a burger again £14.50 which for a basic burger is a lot. It was an extra £1 for cheddar. The bun had been toasted until it was black in places, the burger was nothing special for the price. Chips were basic bought in chips you can't really mess them up. They had made the coleslaw, however the portion was stingy and there was too much mayo in it.
It's a shame they have made their prices so extremely high for food that isn't amazing. We will not be going back.

The hake and broccoli bake was so nice, really good home cooked style pub food and good prices too. This pub is also dog friendly.

Very nice ambiance, lots of little pockets of seating for privacy. Very good food and nice staff.

Over many years of coming to the area I have passed this iconic pub and never been in! On a recent visit to local family went there at long last! We had food and drinks, choosing food from a varied menu. As it was a Sunday there was a choice of 2 roasts, one of which my daughter had. The food was hot, good quality, plentiful and no lengthy wait, very enjoyable. The interior belies the exterior as inside it is roomy, clean and welcoming. A great ambiance with friendly, welcoming staff. Definitely a place to re-visit.

Stopped off here on our journey from Birmingham to Dyffryn Ardudwy, for a quick snack and a drink.

Outdoor and indoor tables available as well as plenty of free parking for guests too. I had had the olives and bread with was delicious (lovely warm bread!), and others in the party had the soup which they said was incredible.

Only lost 1 star as one of our party had a tea and wanted a milk alternative (vegan), but they didn't have any at all. Most places nowadays would offer a soy/oat/almond alternative, so just a little behind here.

Lovely pub, clean and spacious inside. Dog friendly. Human friendly. 2 Sunday roasts, near £14 is a little steep but food was nice. The dog dinner was a great treat for my dog who wolfed it down. Sticky toffee pudding was really tasty. Worth the stop.

Our recent visit was for a birthday get-together. Menu was excellent for adults and kids alike. Some adult meals were offered as a smaller portion, which suited 2 of the younger members of our party. Some changes to the meals were easily accommodated and the meals came exactly as ordered.
Food was delicious and hot and all plates were cleared.

Staff were friendly and polite and weren't too overbearing.

It wasn't a problem for us but may be for others - food is ordered at the bar. I guess, if asked though, you'd be able to have someone come to your table to take the order.
