I'm with Nuffield Health gym is already for 4 years. And for the last year I do not enjoy services and people who are working in there.
when you enter the hall, the first person you see will be the receptionist,
if you ever see him at workplace. it is very rare that someone will say hello to you because they are mostly busy talking to each other or simply ignoring the visitors. if you need to find out something from them, they basically say to call on the phone and sort out the problem themselves.
only one lady from the reception will serve you at a high level and always are very friendly, although I have not seen her lately.
then you go down the stairs and feel that you do not have enough air, as the ventilation system has been faulty for a long time.
The cleanliness of this room is questionable.
in this hall there are several wonderful instructors who are the only source of good mood.
but, unfortunately, not all. It shouldn't surprise you if you showed up to the gym, given that you booked up early and weren't allowed in because you were 5 minutes late. you will be told very rudely to come out.
there are a lot of exercise machines in the sports center itself, but you can often notice that they are out of order or very old.
Summing up, if you want to find a gym, then for the same money you should look at other options.
It's a pity that the service has dropped significantly over the past year. But these problems mentioned above can be solved. but they probably don't need it.
I hope my comment was helpful to both as new potential clients and Nuffield Health gym managers.
It's also absolutely filthly. Gym floor dirty and uneven in places (dangerous!) The showers are really gross, little flies everywhere and hair not cleaned out of drains. I have never seen a cleaner. When I went to a virgin active there was always someone roaming and keeping things clean.
Front desk staff unhelpful, ive mentioned the conditioner dispensers being blocked three times (all of them) and it's obvious no one cares.
Aircon finally fixed after months but now repeated problems with hot water.
No option to even pay to have towels included. Overall puts it in budget gym territory despite the price.
The problem is i went into one of the central London nuffields the other day and for £115 odd a month it was in a pretty bad state of repair (albeit better than croydon).
1. The hot water has been broken since I joined a year ago (luckily I don't have to shower there)
2. No longer provide towels after the covid rules lifted, again showing that HQ 'downgraded' this location
3. Jacuzzi was turn off because of the cost of maintenance.
4. Far too much cardio equipment and not enough functional fitness or free weights.
5. There are several leaks in the ceiling and as a solution they just put buckets in the middle of the functional fitness area.
I finally arrived today and they're closed because of "structural collapse" which comes a no surprise given the ceiling has been caving in for the whole year I have been going there.
I've been a member of Fitness First, Virgin, JD gyms and Nuffield. Nuffield gyms are by far the worst, the only two worth going to are City and Barbican and you have to pay a fair amount of money for the privilege.
