I have been a member of St.Pauls gym for 2.5 years and have stayed with them for the fantastic rates, service and equipment on offer. Every member of staff is welcoming, happy to help and provides advice and valid knowledge into fitness and nutrition. The team care about you and take time to know you whether you are a gym member only, or working with a PT.... they certainly go the extra mile.
All the above sets them apart from competitors and I certainly will be staying put for a long time to come.
Thanks for the love and support guys!

I've been really impressed with this place so far. Always been a little cautious of fitness first as in the nicest possible way, it's a budget gym. The staff are really friendly, there's a great selection of classes and i can almost always get onto the piece of kit i'm after. All in all it's spot on.

*Pros: towel service, convenient location, sauna and hair dryers provided , good classes, some staff members are super nice
*Cons: cleanliness seems to be slipping over time, air-conditioning is broken, awkward layout of gym - sometimes you run out of space especially during peak hours, price is not worth it, lacking comprehensive set of equipment, keep an eye on your bank statements from this gym!

*Average gym... (Deteriorating), a little on the smaller side. I feel like the gym is getting worse overtime

They charge you £5 to pause your membership per month

Hmmmm 🤔 The location of Fitness First is simply marvelous! It's at St. Paul's tube station.

The building seemed very well kept... No unpleasant urine smells, body odour, etc.

The room that I was in was quite small, but we made it work.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

No. I wouldn't consider membership due to the fact that I live far away from the area.

What I liked was the availability of towels post workout; they were by the reception area.

Yeah, I'd be happy to visit again. I enjoyed My Time there.

I hope You've enjoyed this review.

Best wishes,

Blue Bear

It has been my gym for the last two years. It is not as cheap as pure gym, but is not much more expensive either and you get a towel! generally clean, not too busy before 8am. The location is great, next to st Paul station and basically on paternoster square. Hearing how much other gyms charge, I think is a great deal.

Great gym - but the real highlight is Kristyna. I’ve known her for a couple of years, but most recently she’s been training me regularly. She’s an amazing trainer - she pushes you in a supportive and challenging way but most importantly safely. I have so much fun during our sessions and have found a friend as well as a trainer! I look forward to our sessions, and come away feeling awesome!

Extremely poor customer service! This is a nice gym which I've been using for over 3 years. Shame however that the new reception girls are rude and very unpleasant to interact with. They may benefit from some training. They charge you £1 to borrow a padlock, which is unique to St Paul's FF only (I've never had this experience at any other Fitness Firsts). They say it's because 'people don't return the padlocks' but that's obviously untrue, as you would usually leave a belonging in exchange for a padlock. It's clear they are trying to make money out of nothing. Out of all FFs which I use in London, St Paul's has the worst staff members.

Having been a member for 1.5 years, I've just cancelled my membership. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros
The staff are usually pleasant
Towels and shower gel provided
Despite being underground, quite a large space
Was usually reasonably quiet at the time I went

Cons
Aircon frequently on the fritz. Last Summer it was unbearable and it took them months to agree to get more regular fans. Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't now.
Some trainers like to use a boombox when they're working out and play music very loud (this is on top of the normal music on the gym's speakers). This has been going for months, but when I recently drew it to the management's attention they claimed ignorance, despite me seeing them walk around the gym when it was going on.
Weights are usually just left all over the shop, although I know this is a problem at a lot of gyms.
There used to a large stretching area on the gym floor with thick floor mats, but this has now been removed.
The men's changing rooms aren't very clean (hair/fluff permanently on the floor), plus there are no foot mats in the showers.
Not open at the weekends and I have been told by staff that I would have to pay to use another Fitness First (Brixton).

I think the money they charge is probably about right. You get some perks that you wouldn't get at cheaper gyms, but they obviously know it's not as nice as Virgin Gyms or similar. Plus being closed at the weekends isn't great. Ultimately I cancelled as I didn't think the pros outweighed the cons. They didn't argue when I cancelled so I think they know it's not great there.
