Not worth a visit unless you suffer, of course, from the "ruin lust" that gripped 18th.century art and literarure....a tendency to romanticize ruined buildings.
There is little here to see worth the time, energy and expense involved in visiting. Even the information boards have been neglected. Simply not worth visiting. Though it does have a lovely setting.

Beautiful location to walk around and view. Parking is along the road but free entry to walk around. A lot of history with information plaques.

Worth a look around if you’re passing. In a beautiful location with a playground, pub and river right outside to make the visit more worthwhile.

This was once a very large abbey. I love history and this was a fantastic place to visit and learn about. Beautiful scenery and apparently the stones from the abbey, were used in the construction of the nearby cottages. Throughly enjoyed my day, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful ruins. Couldn't walk the full way as part was blocked off as they are trying to conserve it which is fair enough. Nice little walk. Quiet enough place. Easy to find as well.

Nice ruins of the Abbey with enough left to have a look around with a few information boards to read if a little weather beaten. Some of it is fenced off as they are looking at ways to preserve what's left ,entrance is free and definitely worth a look if in the area.

A lovely Abbey to visit in Lancashire, another great English Heritage site.
It is free to enter and parking is along the road where you can.
Although not as grand as some of the Abbeys we have visited in Yorkshire it is still impressive and you can imagine the scale of what it would have been.
Immaculate grounds and interesting architecture in a beautiful village, well worth a visit.
When you leave the Abbey there is a river at the cross roads just past the pub that is nice to have a stroll along if you have time.
