I was also asked to pay an additional fee for having my address for those 6 weeks at their company. I found this odd because it was their delay in providing my final accounts to which my address was still at their company. They did however drop this charge when I challenged it. My address was changed at the end of May even though I stopped working in March. I was told it would be updated to my current address. I was unaware that this had not been rectified until September 15th when I queried this with them. This is how I Iearned you have to second check certain things, when you could do them with less hassle yourself.
My end of the year analysis was submitted after I closed my company to the incorrect link they send me for my corporation tax. I am speaking with HMRC at the moment trying to resolve this error. I must wait a further two weeks to then apply for rebate of my tax. This has caused further difficulty my company had just been closed. I was told by the accountant service that if I wanted these corrected by them it would be 95£+ Vat an hour which I declined and would rather try to fix their error myself. Even though I wasn't paying them a fee at this point it was their error that caused this so I felt the suggested charge was unnecessary. I was also told "nobody else in the office would like to help me." I felt his was harsh but I also think its untrue as the whole team were always very helpful and friendly and tried to resolve my problems. If this is the situation and nobody wants to resolve a mistake, I would query the quality of this service.
If everything runs smoothly and you don't need your accounts straight away and no errors are made this is a good service. Of course this has just been my personal experience. The accounting service is good, but the customer service from a small percentage of the team seems almost petty. I would suggest if using this company that you ask for a response time frame rather than spending your time follow up minor queries.
I have noticed there has been a lot of positive reviews in the past 2 months to be precise so I can only guess the service had improved or I just received a once off bad customer experience. I am from a medical background therefore, accounts and small business is not my great strength hence using an accounting service. This is my first time reviewing a company, I was contemplating raising a complaint but as my last query was not responded to I think this is the most constructive way to raise issues.
These issues are only involving a small percentage of the company so I would suggest not to use this as a complete reflection on the whole company neither would I feel its fair to tarnish a professionals reputation by quoting names.
