As a small, niche, specialist premium joinery business we really needed to find a team to help us take the next correct steps forward.
We have just completed our last year accounts and already can see the benefit of working with the Elman Wall Team.
We have found their service to be very helpful and have been satisfied with the work done and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I was with Elman Wall for approximately four years, in the first two years they were excellent and my account handler (auditor) was very good, the accounts were done efficiently and on time and communication between us was fluid however in the following years they increased in size and seemed to lose interest and a whole host of errors started creeping in. I was appointed a new auditor who told me he was still undertaking his exams, whilst he was a nice guy mistakes were made and although I supplied him or his team (I often could not get hold of my appointed auditor) with my end of year accounts well in advance it took them months to come back to me resulting in me having to complain, after further complaints I was finally supplied with my pre Christmas draft accounts a week before we closed for Christmas which was an incredibly busy time for me. As a result I ended up having to rush 'signing off' my end of year accounts in order to prevent penalties for late accounts. It was a nightmare.
After complaining I was assured that this would not happen again however this was not the case and exactly the same thing happened the following year. After the second disastrous year in a row of badly managed accounting I decided I would terminate my contract, it was February when I gave them my notice and they agreed in light of the fact I was unhappy they would allow me 1 months notice period so my new accountants could begin with a new financial year starting April 1st.
Payments to Elman Wall were made monthly so instead of paying one lump sum of £3,500 at the end of the financial year for accounting services (dealing with mostly VAT and the end of year accounts), I opted to spread the payments out to 12 monthly payments which turned out to be a massive mistake as when I handed in my notice I clarified that they needed to do my end of year accounts as I had already paid them for this service however they told me that I had terminated my contract and they were not obliged to do my end of year accounts. As mentioned I am a small business and there is very little accounting to do throughout most of the year apart from quarterly VAT, I was therefore horrified that they were refusing to do my end of year accounts even though I had already paid them £3,500 and all they had done so far was the quarterly VAT.
I have never written a review before but feel compelled to do so after being treated so badly. After such a good start it seemed Elman Wall were happy to take my money but not provide the service they describe on their website or when I first met them in person. I hear they are good for medium size businesses but think twice before using them if you are a small business. My new accountants charge me half the amount Elman Wall charged me and not only do I get a great service they are also incredibly friendly and informative, they take an interest in my business and give good advice which is what should have happened with Elman Wall.
I have just attended my first Director’s Summit arranged by your firm and I have been hugely impressed.
The day had pace, interest, relevance, humour and demonstrated consummate professionalism. I have taken away some 20 business ideas and will be briefing my staff on several fantastic ideas that were raised in the presentations.
My experience of Elman Wall prior to joining you as an Audit client was that you demonstrated good customer relations and communication.
Since becoming a client those relations have moved up two more notches and I am looking forward to dealing with you all for a very long time!
I wish to goodness I had taken you on as auditors 2 years ago.... “Big mistake....big mistake...huge!!!!”
If you ever look to put prospective customers in touch with satisfied clients who would give an honest appraisal of Elman Wall, feel free send them my way as my response would start with “simply sensational” and then I would expand...
You more than deserve to win the Accountancy awards that you feature on your website. Congratulations on a sensational day. I will be sure to attend future events!
After the meeting, I immediately felt more comfortable, and also learned a very important lesson. I didn’t need to understand everything, if I was able to work with people who could explain things in a logical, clear way. Most importantly, I liked and trusted them which was hugely important to me.
I’ll save the the middle chapters, but it’s now 11 years later, and I am happy to say Elman Wall were with me every step of the way as I grew my business to a team of just under 50 people, and more recently, also successfully navigated a potentially complex sale process. They’re a great team, who genuinely care about their clients and take care and pride over their work. I know my limited initial understanding of the space made me a problematic client at first, but I never felt that way at all. They were always willing to help.
Sadly, following our exit, we’ve been asked to move to another firm, who are much larger than Elman Wall. This change has really starkly highlighted what a gem of a business Elman Wall is.
Thanks to the team there, but a special shout out to Russel who helped us so much during our deal process.
