Reviews were promising so went to check it out.
Ambience and decor was good. Slightly busy as it was Saturday night however not busy enough.
Got seated promptly.
One star for decor and ambience
One star for service
Food was at best average
Lamb Karahi had mutton (older sheep) and not lamb. As it has distinct taste and smell for those who eat both would know what I mean. Asked for spicy and their version of spicy meant putting whole uncooked or steamed green chillis (see pictures). Am sorry but it was t great at all
Masala fish was oily and it wasn’t cod fish. Which is more chunkier and meaty. It was fried in very hot oil with no taste to coating just bland
As oil was hot I conked the coating from outside but left fish inside still watery. What a shame.
Chicken sajji was totally bland and had no flavour apart from sprinkled spice on top. That was only difference between boiled chicken and sajji. Without that sprinkled spice we would not be able to tell whether it’s sajji or boiled
I will give food one star because their lemon soda (mostly famous for pindi and Lahore) was spot on
I suspect owner of this restaurant are from Punjab and they have semi decent afghani chef.
Lemon soda was only thing I would love to have again
They had no roti or afghani qehwa (green tea mint tea etc)seriously how can you run afghani restaurant without both.
Unfortunately sad to say won’t be coming back here.
Value for money was ok as location is in london.
Overall if you go in for food I won’t recommend.
Ps. to the reply of the owner, but it's not an Afghani restaurant. I appreciate it's Pakistani, but you only have Qabuli on there, Chapli kebab is not how Afghanistanis make it, and Dampokht isn't the same too. So really and truly - it's not. But I appreciate you want to make it into one, it's just done in the wrong way. Good luck nonetheless.
They served delicious traditional food on reasonable prices
well behaved staff and very cool and calmed atmosphere to sit in and dine.
All dishes are very delicious and tasty .
Food tastes great, staff check up on you regularly to make sure you have everything you want.
Timing of food arrival depends on what you order and how many other orders they have..
Highly recommend namak mandi karahi (lamb) with naan and chapli kabab
