I am a dancer. I have just started the two year program on Somatic Movement Therapy and education with Moving Soma. Just after our first module I can happily say how wonderful has been moving and learning in such an inspiring, creative, open and safe environment. I felt great honor to the be lead by the generous and knowledgeable teachings of Anna and Amanda Williamson ,founder of the Center. It is a very cleverly put together program that is leading and empowering a movement that can truly reach and support our community and society.

It has been a delight to spend time at Moving Soma this weekend & participate in the conference. Dr. Amanda Williamson is a leader in the field of somatics in the UK, and I leave deeply inspired by the depth of knowledge and research unfolding here.

Amanda creates a warm and welcoming environment where it's easy to relax and allow your body and mind to flow into the session. After one session I left feeling substantially better in my mind and body.

Amanda's knowledge of the science behind the movements we were doing and how they allowed the body to relax were both reassuring and helpful to allow me to understand what we were doing and why.

I would definitely recommend trying it if you've been thinking about it, you will be surprised by how beneficial it feels.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at moving soma. Amanda is so welcoming, I felt comfortable with new people within a new space straight away! I learnt so much from attending classes and speaking to individuals involved in the course, which I will definitely take onto my further learning. I will go back at any opportunity that I can, I feel very grateful to have been welcomed into such an open and enriching space.

Moving Soma was a wonderful experience. A way to disconnect from modern world. Amanda was so welcoming and put you at ease. She facilitated the healing tools with her extensive knowledge which allowed me to release emotions and physical symptoms manifesting within my body within 1 session of working together. It was a brilliant way of bringing calm to my body. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I’d definitely go back. I’d recommend anyone who’s thinking about it to give it a try. You won’t be disappointed it’s a unique experience and I’ve never experienced anything quite like it even after many of my own experiences and knowledge of what I’ve learnt along the way of mind-body. It’s something you have to experience for yourself to understand.

I am in my first year of my Somatic Movement Therapy and Education training with Dr Amanda Williamson at Moving Soma. Amanda's depth of knowledge about the body and the science that underpins Somatic work is incredible.

The work gives you space to explore your body and mind as one. It can help with pain, anxiety, depression and more. I always leave Moving Soma in a different state of mind than when I arrive (feeling much calm and relaxed)

The studio has a very calming and relaxing atmosphere and Amanda is so friendly you feel at ease as soon as you walk in the door. There is no judgement there so you can really let your fears and emotion come out in words or in movement.
100% recommend visiting the studio!

Finding Moving Soma and being introduced to Amanda’s work through her community sessions has been transformational for me. The studio is a sanctuary that holds a safe space, full of light and nature where I can unfurl and begin settle into a slower more natural rhythm, drop to gravity and come home to my body. As someone without a dance background I’ve found this process very liberating. Both the space and my experiences during our sessions have been profoundly nurturing and healing. Amanda is knowledgable and inspiring, helping me to develop a deeper awareness of my joints, tissues and nervous system and gain new perspectives. I am also grateful for the opportunity to witness and connect with other likeminded people and reengage with my creativity and the natural world through mindful movement.

Moving Soma is a beautiful and serene space for healing and learning. I spent five full days at Moving Soma with Dr Amanda Williamson and therapist and teacher Karin Rugman -- the first stage of the two-year training in the centre's unique Somatic Therapy course. Not only did I learn a tremendous amount about the physical body, the nervous system and somatic bodywork practices, but the five days was deeply nourishing for myself. I was able to receive the therapeutic benefits of the work while learning how I could offer it to others. I experienced a deep state of calm and clarity which felt like respite from the otherwise busy and highly stimulating world we live in.

Being in an embodied, experiential process for five full days was only possible thanks to the openness, playfulness and presence of Amanda and Karin. They have created a wonderful space to learn that supports self-expression and authenticity of participants, as well as a genuine sense of safety which invites participants to try new things. From day one we were encouraged to begin leading sessions either with partners or the whole group. This allowed for deep and memorable learning to occur -- something that traditional teaching methods does not always allow for.

We need spaces like these in our communities and I am so excited to have begun this learning journey with Moving Soma.
