Chelmsford Miniature Railway

My sons love to ride the trains there's a cafe and all the volunteers are kind and helpful. Great place to take small children on a Sunday afternoon.

My first visit to this miniature railway and it's a delight! Lots of families here on a sunny Sunday, enjoying very reasonably-priced rides on lots of trains hauled by a variety of engines. There's also a miniature traction engine giving rides. Delicious cake and drinks in the refreshment room too! A public car park is conveniently situated nearby. Amazing, tiny little steam trains with real little coal furnaces, lovely afternoon out, super friendly, 3yo loved it as much as his parents did 👍😁

This is our third year visiting this hidden gem In the corner of one of Colchester's parks and it never fails to excite our children. The volunteer group are so friendly and helpful, trains are great to see and ride on and we all have a great couple of hours for the cost of a couple of tickets. £5 for 6 tickets means the 4 of us have a great couple of hours for £10 plus some coffee and cake. Plenty of picnic benches and only a few minute walk from the playground. A must visit, even if it's just to support this lovely group of enthusiast's.
