Originally Beaumont and Moze were separate parishes but combined in 1678 as Moze church was deemed not worth repairing. Hence St Mary, Moze was later added to St Leonard, Beaumont to become St Leonard and St Mary, Beaumont cum Moze. The church foundations are thought to possibly be 12th century though the structure is probably 14th or 15th century. The church is normally open to visitors.

I love this place. It has a peaceful atmosphere about it all. Probably a build up of hundreds of years of kind people gathering there to the glory of their spiritual friends.

Beautiful, small church set back from the main road within a surprisingly large churchyard. The churchyard has a very tranquil, secluded garden atmosphere. St. Leonard's is a quaint building, with a tiny belltower similar to the one at the original village church at Frinton-on-Sea. The interior still has that musty scent associated with old churches, but which many have lost now...
