Went here for the Plus Size Convention 2016!
Really enjoyed the back-to-back fashion shows by different designers!
Hall is big enough but the council could do some renovations at least!

As people say, good space for a gig with great sound/acoustics, and nice not to be rammed in for a change. Saint John does however win the prize for "Most expensive bar at a gig in the UK 2016". The lord is certainly taking and not giving at gigs in the church, a 330ml can of ok lager costing £4.50 (=£7.75 a pint!) and a glass of wine £7.50.

The loos are porta-cabins out the back and were overflowing by half way through the gig - not pleasant!

People should not be allowed in here. The ceiling seems to be falling apart, you can actually see daylight through several holes. It should be closed down for renovations or completely shut down. It is a health hazard. Went there for a West End Musical choir event. Very poor choice for a musical venue, acoustics are terrible.

Great atmosphere, amazing beer plus nice guest craft beers and delicious food served till late! What else can you ask for! Oh and you can join salsa class too! And sit in the cosy garden at the back

Such an amazing church!!! Their services are amazing, amazing worship, inspiring talks and a generous welcome! Love to visit when I can. The work they are doing in the community also really shows that they practice what they preach!

This is a charismatic church, leading the service through music and quite an informal service structure. All the elements of a CoE service are there however, but it is conducted on a more youthful and quite informal basis.....I found the music a little too over-powering however and the songs unfamiliar and not easy to sing along to. As a congregant I felt more in the role of a concert audience member than a worship participant...the music reminded me of ones that I have experienced at a HillSong worship service. I found it a bit too loud as well which made singing along to difficult.
The sermon was good in parts but i prefer putting the scriptures more at the centre and teaching to be led from there.....in my opinion the sermon should ask and help answer the questions around how does God speak to us through his scriptures and challenge us today - this combined with spirit led prayer can help to form us into more Christ-like people.
Today was Sunday before Epiphany, a major day in the Christian calendar but there was no mention of it which I found a little disappointing....the service was joyful and up-beat, maybe aimed at a younger, family orientated audience. I struggled to properly settle into the service - it was a little too fast paced for me.
My comments and views should be put in the context that I am now 52 years old and no longer in my late teens/early 20s when I was very into the charismatic church and new to my faith. Maybe my tastes today simply reflect this change.
For all my comments I did feel that the love of Christ was at the centre of the service, and the church are an evangelizing church with a vision to take the Good News out and into the community which is all excellent and much needed in today's society.... but just take care not to dumb down the service too much and stay anchored to and emersed in the Bible.

Beautiful yet slightly delapidated church. A venue for gigs, meetings and of course worship. The people that work in St Luke's are kind and welcoming and truly 'serve' and reflect Hackney's diverse community.
-The church has been renovated by a well known stage designer, so I've heard. Not had the chance to pop in yet but apparently it's beautifully done up. Good Covid measures in place, ticketed with stewards at the door. From the outside it all looks wonderfully fresh again and the lights from the interior shine magically through the stained glass! Looking forward to attending a service for Christmas again.
