If you're visiting Rye, you must come here and make the climb to the roof. It costs £4 and the climb is a bit difficult with the steep steps and narrow walkways but the view at the top is absolutely spectacular.

Great little church worth visiting. Inside and out there is a lot to see for a church this size. Add to that the fact you can pay £4 to access the tower and get on top of the church and get amazing views of all of Rye and out into the harbour and sea and this church is a must do for anyone visiting Rye.

Great church situated at the top of the hill, so you get spectacular views of Rye if you climb the narrow steps to the top of the tower, for only £4. The magnificent stained glass windows are so beautiful. It even has a gift shop, selling pens, postcards and magnets etc. All reasonably priced. So big inside the church, I didn't think it was that large from the outside. The clock is so beautiful and you can buy postcard and magnet of the clock as a little keepsake. Well worth a visit amazing church.

What a cool experience. My partner and I climbed up the narrow stairs and it felt like we went back in time. Well worth the £4 and one of my favorite parts on my day trip to Rye.

£4 to climb the tower and get some amazing views of Rye, the climb isn't for the faint hearted but really worth it!

My favourite thing in Rye. The climb up to the roof is a must. Be careful if your larger or clostraphobic because you may not fit through the very tight walls on the way up, look @ my pictures. The view out the top is great. You see the whole area and get a peak at the workings of the clock and bell on the church. Recommended.

You can pay to go up past the bells to the top of the quite unique church tower. Great fun.

St Mary's has been there for over 900 years. The church clock, for over 450 years. And the church bells, over 240 years.

With architecture as impressive as its history, it's worth a visit if you're in Rye (or worth visiting for that reason).

You can climb the bell tower to see the 8 bells (£), which I'd recommend regardless of your interest in campanology.

It even as a Visitor Centre with a small Christian book shop.
