A very unassuming and quiet part of the world, but this is a very important church. Despite its isolated position, Llanwonno possesses an interesting past and the Church of St Gwynno was at one time the centre of one of the most important parishes in all of Glamorgan as it is the final resting place of legendry Welsh runner Guto Nyth Bran - whose real name Gruffydd Morgan - where every year the Nos Galon is run on NYE to commemorate Guto’s impact on running and local legend in Mountain Ash.

My parents got married here, and apparently I've got many relatives buried in the graveyard.

Remotely situated, medieval church high on a hill in the hamlet of Llanwonno, with spectacular scenery and plenty of dog walking areas nearby.

Such a quaint peaceful place. Guto Bran, the famous Welsh runner was also buried hear. The fews all around are spectacular. As far as merthyr Vale and the watchtower and trig point clearly visible.

Stumbled upon this place and what a joy for walkers and adventurer's, gorgeous place. If you stroll (or drive) down the road for about 2 minutes, you'll come to the forest walk where you'll find a wonderful cafe called Caban Guto - an absolute delight. Opposite the cafe entrance is a lovely walk which will take you to the waterfalls. What are you waiting for? Go go go 🚶‍♀️
