Old Church building located on an Roman burial site close to the Segontium a Roman Fort on the road from Caernarfon to Waunfawr and Beddgelert. It's called Sant Peblic a Church of Wales religious building. Unfortunately the old graveyard has been neglected and allowed to become an eye sore having been tidied and cleared of weeds on several occasions, making it now impossible to visit to find family graves.

The history of this church is fascinating, but unfortunately it was not open, so we couldn't get inside. The graveyard next to the church is overgrown, and a little odd to walk through.

Lovely old church but the graveyard is very overgrown so it makes it hard to find graves of ancestors

This fine Church was established in the 5th Century by Saint Pablig on the site of the cemetery of the nearby Roman Segontium fort. Some masonry of the current Church dates back to the 13th Century but most of it dates back to the 14th Century with additions and further work added before it's major renovation in 1894. The graveyard was showing promising signs of renovation when I was there with piles of removed bramble present in considerable amounts which was good as the graveyard was in a truly awful overgrown state until recently with litter and signs of vandalism abounding. There is still graffiti on the church itself and one targeted grave had obscenity spray painted on the headstone and crypts had been smashed as had several headstones and memorials but there are a lot of good people fighting the problems this Church faces and I believe they will prevail. A fascinating place.I am hopeful for it's future.
