I took my 4 dogs (All adopted) to the vet on the Sunday clinic.
It is clearly advertised on the shop window as well as online, the cost for vaccinations and the fact there are no special conditions, if you wish to vaccinate, take the pet queue and pay the established price , then you are met with this disgusting attitude.
The lady took a dislike to me as soon as she saw me on the queue, asking why I had 4 dogs and telling me I could not have them vaccinated there because they do not do puppy litters (which I know they do not vaccinate litters), I explained the dogs are small breed (Maltese) and are all 4 years up to 6 years old (Paperwork shown), however she was not done with the attitude.
Once inside the waiting area, she went for round 2 and started quizzing me again that the dogs were all related (In breeding), again I explained they were adopted, so no they could not be, she then turns round and says "so they are all related", this lady was on a frenzy against me and only hearing what she wanted, again I explained, no they are not related, different ages, different parents, even different countries, I have adopted as far a field as Ireland.
I adopted one from a lady in Ireland who could not keep the boy because he was very small (3KG) and her bulldog kept hurting the Maltese boy.
I adopted a Maltese/bichon because her owner was going back to US and did not wish to take her.
I adopted a Maltese girl in very poor health, malnourished and bad oral hygiene with tooth loss from a family who had bought her for their mother who had Alzheimer and she kept forgetting to feed her.
We are asthmatic and allergic to most cats and some dogs, thus we can only have Maltese, I have travelled the country adopting these dogs who are now members of our family.
None of my dogs have been neutered as they were all adopted, we are well aware of the problem of over breeding and have always tried to do the right thing and adopt.
Was asked if I intended in breeding my dogs, I explained at present no, but I had not ruled that out just yet as we would like to have our own puppy some day and have my Nina's (KC registered) blood line continue (we have been told she is a true compliment to the breed), seen as we have been adopting adult dogs for the past 22 years, that was enough for this lady to ask me to leave telling me there is no service for people like you here, she done this in a loud voice right in front of all the other people waiting to be seen, I was absolutely mortified, I mean what sort of RSPCA is this? certainly not one I use to support.
I took the dogs to this clinic because I am on low income (NOW) and could not afford the high charges from vets, so that I could save 60 pounds.
But to have my dogs vaccinated at the RSPCA, the lady demanded I would have to sign up for neutering for all 4 which would be £400.
Now where is the sense on that, if I could afford the £400 for neutering I would have taken the dogs to a regular vet to begin with.
Realistically what this lady done was punish me for having adopted the dogs in the first place.
Absolutely disgusting.
Only after agreeing to sign up to neutering (which I can not afford) then I was allowed to see the vet and get the dogs vaccinated, The vet herself was fantastic and very polite, I doubt the vet actually knows what is taking place outside her office.
The RSPCA really needs to look at this surgery as it is clear individuals are pushing their own agendas and have little regard for the RSPCA mission to prevent unnecessary animal suffering/ disease and treat people with contempt.
I have been a strong advocate for the RSPCA in the past and have donated when I could, but this just shows what happens when volunteers are allowed to do as they please.
The are no short supply of complaints regarding this lady and her attitude from all the other people who I spoke to in the queue.
I am now considering what action I should take in terms of filing a complaint through to the RSPCA head office.
You come in to vaccinate your dog for £15 and must agree to spend £99 on having his privates cut.
LOL
