Pareglio & Ayres Antiques

My last minute hunt for an armchair just before Christmas bore all the hallmarks of being time-consuming and tiring, but luckily my friend and I walked into Pareglio and Ayres Antiques. The shop is a treasure trove of elegant, unique, and intricate furniture, collectables, and home accessories. The shop’s warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately put me at ease - there was even a charming train set up for Christmas with chocolates in the cars for weary children “from ages one to ninety-two.” With Warren's extensive knowledge and help, i quickly found an ideal, Georgian winged-back chair. But, when Warren and his wife kindly delivered the chair one frosty evening it quickly became clear that I had made the highly embarrassing mistake of not measuring the doorway through which the chair had to pass. I thought the chair would have to be returned, but with skill and extreme patience, an hour later the chair had taken pride of place in our guest house. The chair has received many compliments, and one visitor even said it made her “feel like a queen" when she sat in it. And, despite the doorway debacle, Warren even helped me days before my Christmas guests arrived to source the perfect, slender, side-table to compliment the chair. Pareglio and Ayers is by far the most welcoming and customer oriented antique shop I have ever encountered.

Purchased a Georgian writing slope circa 1795 and had it shipped to the States. They were meticulous in the packaging and I even had a follow up phone call to make sure it was delivered in excellent condition. The pictures on their web site represented the antique very fairly and I can't be more pleased with the whole transaction. Wonderful people to work with.
