This is a fascinating exhibition and compliments a visit to the Sistine Chapel itself; I learnt much about the paintings from being able to get close to the excellent reproductions, you can't do this with the originals. I was glad I visited when the exhibition was quiet and I could dodge backwards and forwards around each gallery to compare the paintings, this is also not possible in the Sistine Chapel.More information about art history and Michelangelo's techniques would have been welcome on the audio guide.

It shouldn't replace a visig to Rome to see the real thing but this wonderful exhibition of Michalengelo's work in the Sistine Chapel adds to such a visit by enabling close-up views and offering individual descriptions of each individual element. The technique used to record the paintings is excellent, though nowhere near the brilliant technical and imaginative work of the artist himself, evident through this exhibition, in producing the originals.

A very worthwhile exhibition. In the "real" Sistine Chapel it is difficult to see the details as they are quite distant and if you stand looking up for too long, you get a crick in the neck! This exhibition allows you to take as long as you like to look at each part, which means it's possible to focus on all the details. It is astonishing how much Michelangelo put into this work! The free audio guide is excellent and very informative; the labels are also helpful. Minor glitches include the fact that in City Space the order of the panels on the life of Moses do not match the audio guide, so you have to keep hopping around to see which picture is being referred to. In the Gallery, it would have been helpful for the pictures of muses & prophets to be hung in the order in which they match the ceiling. And it would have made more sense for the three panels at the end of the Gallery to be hung in the order they occur above the Last Judgement. The third component of the exhibition is the large Last Judgement in the Great Hall and since there is a smaller scale version of it, with commentary, earlier in the Discovery Centre, the Great Hall one is somewhat redundant, apart from being bigger. However the cost of the ticket gets you into the Great Hall without having to pay again, so it's worth doing if only for that.

Very interesting. Learnt more about Michelangelo and his techniques. Very good to be able to see up close. Not a wow factor though impressive. Perhaps if it had all been in one gallery might have had more of the total impact. Well worth the money though.

The Sistine ceilings pictures/paintings are at eye level which makes looking at them easier than the
ceiling setting.
The quality of these are high so that colours and details are sharp.
Hurray for the audio guide I was able to stare without having to read the text explanation.
Took as long as I liked.

We saw the Raymond Briggs exhibition at The Gallery. The space is a great size and the exhibition well curated. The entry fee was very reasonable for the amount of art that we saw (cheap actually). Great to have literary illustrations in a library space to encourage reading and budding artists. Loved it!!

I visited the Raymond Briggs exhibition here, which I truly enjoyed, but the exhibition space itself is very pleasant and lends itself well to a good viewing experience.
It's easy to park, either right next door, in Jewry Street, or in Tower Street a short walk away. I always enjoy visiting the gallery here and highly recommend it.

Raymond Briggs exhibition. A delight to see this artists early work. Highly recommend to fans although not ideal for children, this exhibition is not designed with children in mind which is a shame, it could be a lot more user friendly. So 5 stars for Mr Briggs but 3 for the design and layout of this space, poorly utilised, ignoring that his mass appeal is to children.
