An excellent space to create, explore and inspire. A hub of ideas and the right people to make it happen. Small but perfectly formed to inform. Go.

As much as they show technologically forward-looking art, they seem to be dragging behind in terms of social awareness. Last time I was there, the ongoing exhibtion was based entirely around an exotifying white gaze at indigenous Australians, making their lives symbols rather than letting them speak for themselves. A pity for a place with potential.

This small and unassuming gallery space is well worth checking out whenever you're spending time in Finsbury Park. The exhibitions here change regularly and are from a high caliber of international artists, often with an interactive or performance aspect. Although it's a tiny space, I've often come out of Furtherfield feeling like I had as interesting an experience (or better) as I might do in a major London gallery. And it's free!

When it was open it held tiny but interesting exhibitions in the midst of the park, with staff present to answer questions.
