The Kemble Gallery & Art Shop

A little gem in the heart of Durham City. Really well stocked gallery & art supplies. I recently started painting, following a gap of 38 years since my 'O' Level Art. I initially went to a well known chain store to buy art equipment but regret not going here first, would have saved me from wasting money of cheap, poor quality imitations. The Kemble store manager gave me first class advice and helped me chose the correct brushes, paints & paper for what I was doing and hence made my hobby more rewarding. No pressure, just good quality advice. Please support your local businesses and keep our High Streets populated with great independent shops like this, you won't get good advice or a friendly service from buying online. Outstanding always standing out over the test of time. When living in or around co.durham this shop is very dear to me the place where i love to come to see other people's work over many many years ive been into this wounderful treasure. Staff are very welcoming warm and kind hearted very nice people indeed. Loving "make your mark" idea very hands on and a delightful living guestbook. Always find what i am looking for, as rekindled my love for the arts and making art. Thank you once again to all the friendly staff as they go out there way to make yours. One of my favourite places in Durham, I have visited this place so many times during my undergrad, especially when I was feeling low because it served as an instant pick me up! The people who run it are so kind, really miss this place, my walls are formed with many prints from here ❤️ wish I can visit again soon

Recently bought my girlfriend a print of the Cathedral for her birthday, as she has recently graduated from Durham Uni and has lots of happy memories of the city. I ordered from their website, and the print itself is really beautiful, it arrived quickly and the gift wrapping was fantastic.

I visited the Kemble gallery for the first time yesterday. Apart from the diverse range of original art and prints, I was dazzled by the materials on the third floor. I got everything I needed, including beautiful colour polychromus pencils(the artists secret weapon!). So many thanks and blessings for the future Kemble. Your star is deservedly in the ascendant.
