The worth of 10.000 euros, more precisely 9.450 euros came 6 months before the damage occurred when the gallery made and sent the contract to me to sign it, while they were happy to show them in the gallery for that price and eventually take big commission; the artworks they have seen on my website with all details including prices. I asked the owner if she was sure she wanted those artworks because of their high cost and she said they would be perfect for her clients and that she will sell them fast... But when the damage happened, suddenly the owner decided that my work has no worth... They suggested me that I repair them because of THE HIGH COST, so certainly we are not talking about 50 £. Also, a gallerist should know that once piece is damaged, it can not be sold for it's full price.
It wasn't the fault of the courier, the damage occurred because of very unprofessional handling and packaging by the gallery, scenario that it seems is repeating often. This wouldn't be so stressful situation if the gallerist was kind and wanted to resolve the situation... She was very rude and abusive, very disrespectful, insulting my art and me. It wouldn't be so stressful if this happened just to me... Galleries should respect their artists, because they are depending on them. Once they loose artists, they will have to close the doors of their gallery-unless they become artists themselves.
I found the organisation, intimacy of the setting, friendliness of everyone involved and tutoring to be first rate.
I even missed a couple of classes in the series due to holiday, and Hetty went out of her way to allow me to join other sessions.
Because you leave each week with your drawings, it's impossible not to notice the improvement made week on week from just a couple of hours.
I will be back again, and have encouraged Hetty to see if she can put on a Portraiture class as well.
Totally recommend it to everyone, regardless of your level.
