Went to see the exhibition - A Century of the Artist’s Studio: 1920 – 2020 on until 5 June 2022. If this was in any of the bigger galleries in the posh part of town, it would have been called a “blockbuster” and been sold out by now! The range and extremely high standard of artist’s on show are worth the visit in itself. The theme is also quite interesting. It is a ticketed exhibition and we managed to buy tickets on the day during the bank holiday weekend. They can be booked online in advance as well. They cost from £7 (for Art Fund members) to £17.55 (including donation). Highly recommended for people interested in diverse voices in contemporary art from across the world.

Always a great gallery to visit. Sometimes there are paying shows, especially for the main galleries, but it’s certainly worth visiting the smaller gallery spaces dotted about the building that present new and frequently inspiring contemporary art.
And the book shop is always worth perusing too (but keep your wallet safely locked away! It’s truly dangerous! I know from experience)
Then talk a wander down Brick Lane and have a bagel to celebrate with

Great place. If you like art, then definitely check it out! It's free entry. The displays get changed around every so often, so it's worth visiting again.

Art done right — wonderful gallery with changing exhibitions. Quality depends per exhibition, cafe is great as is the book selection in the shop. Entry is donation based.

Not that great of a gallery, definitely far better ones to experience in London.

However, if you have a spare half hour it's not too bad to wander around and get out of the rain or just to relax (it's quite quite).

I will admit when I went a majority of the galleries were closed, maybe I'll give it a try another time.

Great gallery in East London, plenty of exhibitions and really well laid out - great way to spend a couple of hours before heading down Brick Lane.

Free entry!

This was a fine art gallery. However on the day we visited, we found that the (real) art was outside the gallery - as it was such a beautiful winter day to be walking around Aldgate and Liverpool Street

This gallery hosts a wide variety of exhibitions, some of which are amazing and others not, but every visit is enjoyable. If you like modern art and conceptual cutting edge art, this place is a must. If you like the Tate Modern or The Barbican galleries, you will like the Whitechapel Gallery just as much or more. It's smaller size means the exhibitions are easier to absorb and recall later. Sometimes in larger galleries, there so much to see that when you leave and try to remember specific works, it's a struggle. But not at the Whitechapel Gallery. I love that about this place.

The venue is superbly maintained, the staff are friendly, the coffee shop and food is good too.
