Origin Live is a small but highly specialised engineering firm who have far more understanding of turntable design than many other long established firms. Theirs is a brief steeped in a correctly implemented design and manufacturing program with what are precision instrument quality products that not only work well but perform to such a level as to outrun a digital playback system with consummate ease. I wholeheartedly endorse Mark and his son in their quest with pushing the envelope to such far reaching quality levels.

As for their product support, I am a most satisfied customer who has found their service to be both courteous and most satisfactory. I don't look for fawning, sycophantic pleasantries but rather to be dealing with someone who actually knows precisely what they are talking about.

Had cause to take my tonearm back to Origin for a minor repair before lockdown.
They re-soldered a cartridge connector on the spot without charge!

I’m having a bit of a music session tonight and on a variety of music, I’m really impressed. The latest multi-layer platter, now installed with my DS Audio ES-01, and set up properly is amazing.

With the DS optical cartridge, the background is an inky black silence that the music jumps out from. Detail and clarity are exceptional, with a very precise but smooth presentation of the music. There is also a surprising and welcome reduction in surface noise.

I think it's about twenty years since I visited proprietor Mark Baker at this friendly business, although I have made much more recent use of the website. Mark is a highly capable and widely-experienced engineer and designer. His company makes a very good range of turntables and pickup arms which are both beautiful and highly effective, at prices to suit most pockets.
