Acton Gate Audio

I bought an amp for 1k from Acton Gate Audio on ebay.
Received very quick. But here the joy is over. The amplifier emits a strong perfume fragrance. Through the vents.....:D Question, for what? Something is being hidden. Something smelly from the amp...maybe he is burned before? The description didn't have it .... :) The mounting bolt just falls out of the bottom of the amplifier .....: D

I bought some ATC SCM40 speakers from here last year. Took me almost a year to decide on what speakers to get and the staff were so patient with me and i did not feel pressured to buy anything. Amazing place and customer service done right! Thanks, will recommend and will be back for sure!

Brilliant Shop. First place I go to when looking to update or replace my audio equipment as they have so much knowledge on the latest products. There customer service is also brilliant. Would recommend them to anyone.

Great service again from Acton Gate! I bought a tape recorder from them in 2001 -still going even if the tapes are disappearing!! A surround system in 2007 is still ideal for my needs, and when my 40 year old record deck packed up I went back without hesitation to replace it. Instead they took my old deck in and repaired it within 24 hours cost £13! Lockdown has got me ready for an upgrade to my HiFi and so I've been back. I cant imagine any other shop being so attentive and patient even to insisting I took the new kit home for a trial even though I was ready to buy in the shop. HiFi shops can look a bit intimidating to non audiophiles, but no-one should worry about popping in to have a look here. Advice is willingly offered and I am very confident is tailored to what the customer might want, not what they need to sell. They sell good stuff and visiting is always a pleasure. Thanks guys

Brilliant service and communication. Quality hifi/home cinema products stocked. Goods I obtained through eBay were delivered within 24 hours. Even though I live over 90 miles away, I will try and use them again.

Spoiler alert - SUPERB!

I first visited Acton Gate in the summer of 2017 to see if I could hear the difference between Apple Airplay streaming, vinyl and cd’s. The guys invited me to bring along my Apple Airport Express, cd’s and vinyl of my choice. They quickly set up the demo room allowing me to flick between the different sources. Literally nothing was too much trouble. An hour and a half later I left the shop having established that there was indeed a difference but no purchase made. This wasn’t an issue at all with the guys and I was treated throughout as if I was the best customer they could wish for.

Wind the clock forward to summer 2021 and I want a new turntable. I had narrowed my options down to the Rega Planar 6 or Planar 8. Thanks to the fantastic customer service in 2017, I returned to Acton Gate. Mike and Andy were very thorough, investigating my current setup and making suggestions on what might best match it. As I have a Naim amp which isn’t stocked at Acton Gate they immediately said that I should take a turntable home to demo with my system. They asked how far away I was and when they understood that it was a ninety minute drive each way, without hesitation they suggested that I took the Planar 6 AND Planar 8 home with me to demo. I was also provided with a M/C phono and quality interconnects for the demo. There was no rush to bring the gear back “have a listen to them for a week or two to see what you think”.

This is the first time I’ve been able to home demo gear and it makes a huge difference hearing it at leisure with the system it will join. I was concerned that my system might not display the differences between the 6 and 8. I needn’t have worried, the 6 was excellent but the 8 delivered more. Choice made. Deal agreed. One very happy customer indeed.
