Had a NIGHTMARE. Originally booked my car in for 8:30 on a Tuesday. Explained the issue and what I’d already had looked into from a previous garage. Heard nothing all day, not even an update, and so around 3:30 (7 hours later!) decided to call for an update to find out they’d not even started yet and only did after I called and prompted them to. Didn’t take me seriously and insisted the car was fine, before dropping it off at 5:30 and admitting it wasn’t fine, telling me to come back Friday at 8:30 now they’d seen the problem. That Tuesday as I attempted to drive home, the car made it no more than 5 mins before breaking down and me being home an hour and a half late after being towed home. They’d made the car worse.
Thought I’d give a second chance as garages can get busy and I figured I’d be prioritised since my original appt was Tuesday. Told them my theories about the problem so they could focus on certain areas. Again, heard no updates and so at 2:30, 6 hours later, I called for an update. Told me “it’s running fine now” and said they’d just “clean the inside wires” despite me telling them it was a waste of time as I’d already had it done.
All that happened to my car was they used up half a tank of fuel that they didn’t replace. I gained nothing.
It was a complex issue but I’d atleast respect them if they had admitted that they didn’t know what was wrong with it, and gave it back to me instead of wasting my time, especially as I had to compromise social distancing since I was staying in Ipswich but had to stay in Debenham on two full days waiting for them.
Terrible communication and time management, and felt completely ignored by them as they made me feel like I was over reacting about the problem. A shame since my family has never had issues with them before.
