The repair is very reasonably priced. I will be back for all of my car needs!
- rude
- completely misdiagnosed my car
- unprofessional
For details please read below;
I chose to go with this garage because of the 5 Star rating and the great reviews, the lady seemed friendly too during the initial booking. I was rather reluctant this being my first time going to a garage as a new driver and in a new area.
I was told there will be a charge £27 charge just to look at the car which my dad said was very unusual, just examine the car. However because of the reviews I was willing to pay this charge. This was to determine where the oil leek was coming from.
When the garage called to let me know the diagnosis, I asked the lady if she could repeat what was wrong with the vehicle, so I could write it down. Her reply was " what is the point if you're going to take it else where", "I replied my dad asked me to call him back after" , reluctantly and abruptly the lad did tell me what was wrong. My Dad had in fact asked me to, (its a dad thing even if I am 25 years old and have moved out, he wants to know). Not that I, the customer, should have to justify myself. I'm new to the area, and as we all know in the garage industry it fair game, you are a customer looking for the best job a reasonable price, especially given the current climate.
Despite her rude abrupt behaviour, I still asked for a quote and was given an estimate, which was over £700.00 to replace 4 seals and change the clutch. My cream steering wheel was also left filthy.
Disheartened I took to car to another garage my dad has been going to for 15 years over a hour away where my parents live, to get a second opinion free of charge.
This mechanic said my clutch is in perfect working order and there was no need what so ever for this to be replaced. I do have an oil leek which we already knew but he said it was that dirty under the car it was impossible determine where the leek is coming from. It needs hosing down and putting on the ramp and can then clearly determine where the leek is situated, he further commented "some of these garages look for anything and if you are none the wiser you do pay it. It would seem they have said all seals need replacing to cover all basis rather than pin pointing the issue ".
I think that's quite sad.
I don't usually do reviews but I felt very compelled to in this occasion as I would not want some else to injure the same experience I did.
