I've used this bakery several times. But today the service was very begrudgingly, request for Brown sauce on a bacon roll was met with a load 'tut'. Also, refused to put my coffee into my reusable cup, I had to have it in a take away 'let's chuck it into the environment ' one. Strange in this day and age when most coffee shops offer incentives to bring your own cup.

I’ve been dog walking In Standon 3-4 days a week for 3-4 years! I found this quaint bakery ‘Days’ on the high street selling (bagels, baguettes, coffee, pastries). I started buying there every time I visited spending £12 a time. They do a breakfast-meal-deal bagel sausage-burger, egg, crunchy bacon & coffee at a set price, my go-to purchase as well as a baguette & beef slice. The food is good 8-10, little pricey but it’s good to support local businesses. Single Star rating should be a 0. After 6 months i started to notice the manage was being publicly rude to me and becoming increasingly aggressive for no apparent reason. I’d also noticed it wasn’t just me this was happening to and had seen her act like this to multiple customers. I put it down to her just having some life issues and tried to ignore it, actively waiting for the other staff members to take my order. This strategy was manageable most of the time. I visited after the first lockdown and was met with a barrage of verbal aggressive insults telling me I could not enter without a mask, I understand this was a complicated and fearful time however I’d advised the manager that I was exempt due to medical reasons. The manager started loudly insulting me accusing me of endangering others in front of a number of other customers. I stayed calm and suggested that I stand out side whilst my food was being prepared which seemed to nullify the aggression with a mutually agreed solution to the issue of the mask. Unfortunately this same verbal attacks continued every time and went on for the next year with the same result and outcome. So another year passed relatively drama free as I managed to swerve the angry manager getting served by the other staff. The last straw; two months ago I ordered the breakfast bagel deal (As above), there was no sausage-burger or egg so I said just put the bacon and an ‘actual sausage’ in and that would be fine, the staff member agreed and all was good up until the point of paying. I had payed via card and was slightly confused as to how much the bill was, I asked for a brake down of the cost. It turned out not only was I over charged (£6) but they had also additionally charged me for a separate sausage, separate bacon, separate bun and full price for the coffee. I asked why this had happened, I was advised by the staff member that because the bagel had an actual sausage in it rather than the sausage-burger that they had charged me for every item full price as well as full price coffee. Suffice to say I wasn’t happy and asked them to honer the meal-deal as what I had been given was in fact less food than the meal deal would have been (It made no sense what so ever). The staff member asked the manger (the polish lady who didn’t like me) over to deal with the issue, she automatically started being abusive & offensive stating she ‘would not’ reduce the price and honer the breakfast deal value. I calmly advised her I was getting less value and also being over charged £6 on top not taking the additional full price of the coffee burger etc. The manager abruptly said it was tough and she wasn’t going to reduce the cost like it or lump it. At this point another male customer said she (The manger) had done this to him a few weeks back and was very rude. I decided I was no longer going to let this angry manger bully me as she had done over the last few years and demanded a full refund immediately. I was obviously very angry and a little loud but not abusive, I told the manger she was a bully and a pretty nasty person as my emotions got the better of me. I took a time out and recomposed my self. The manger purposely took her time with the refund pretending she didn’t know how to action it. I’ve come to know multiple residence of Standon through dog walking and it is common knowledge this disgusting lady manger does this on a daily basis bullying lots of people for no apparent reason other than pleasing her disgusting ego. It’s a real shame as the shop it’s self and other staff are lovely. 0/10

It's a shame as some days bekerys are nice but the service here and the way the staff talk to customers is shocking. Multiple times have noticed curt remarks or rude service to customers, food is good but people buy from people!

Lovely apple turnovers with cream (although probably not good for the figure! Sigh.) and Danish pastries. Plus a great savoury selection.
I also made enquiries about the bakery providing a parcel for a birthday Afternoon Tea, and the staff were very accommodating in this respect. Looking forward to choosing for this occasion and, above all, to eating it all afterwards!!!

Had three or four Afternoon Teas by now, with items provided by our bakery in Standon, and even one of my friends, who is very picky, praised the quality of the sandwiches and the sweet course! I expect there will be a few more Afternoon Teas happening here in Standon !

Nice clean bakery and food is as good as any other good bakery but well over priced in my opinion.
This is only a small village in Hertfordshire and not central London.
In my opinion, this bakery is making the most of the only one in the area. Maybe a bit of local competition would get them to think twice about the huge price tags on the items they sell.
I would of given 4 stars if you didn't have to pay so much. Staff are ok.
