Just a stone's throw from Abbey Fields is Crustums Bakery and it's awesome! Only open on Wed, Fri and Sat, they do a weekly special bread and regulars too. Furthermore, the cakes are amazing.

I love Crustum and I love Nick the baker. Friendly service with a smile, delicious bread and cakes. Although I don't often go there he always makes me feel like a friend.

Great bread, course was excellent and very friendly service. Read the other comment re carbs? Some what perplexed as the 4 ingredients for the white bread are yeast, plain bread flour, salt and water. Doesnt seem to worry the diabetics I know?

My first visit. Family had recommended this lovely artisan style bakery, and I'm so pleased that they did! I bought a Windrush loaf, which was so tasty. Also got a couple of flapjacks and a cherry, chocolate and almond slice, all fab. Will definitely be going again 👌

Crustum is a bread shop in Kenilworth where all the bread for sale is baked on the premises. For me, I much prefer to buy bread that is local and not served over the counter in plastic bags and might have been driven half way across the county prior to being sold!

The bread comes unsliced, this is good for me, I prefer to slice my own loaves, I can decide how thick or thin I wish the slices to be!
The bread at Crustum may not be the cheapest, in my opinion though it is very good value.

I support Giles the head baker and all the helpers who work at Crustum.

However Giles I would suggest that it might be worthwhile to your customers and to you in the long term if your communication was clearer. In what way you might ask!
Well for example on Thursday 5th January 2023, on the Crustum website I ordered a large Windrush and a small Wholemeal loaf to pick up on the next day (Friday) at 10:30 am.

On Friday as I approached the shop I noticed the blind was up! I got to the door, the sign said closed, the light was off, another notice said closed until 18th January 2023.

Crustum closed, OK I will go and buy bread from another shop in Kenilworth, not a problem for me.

But Giles...

1. Why not put a message on your website to say you are closed until 18th January 2023?

2. Why not prevent orders being placed until 18th January?

Doing this might stop customers from ordering bread and expecting to pick it up the day after during early January 2023.

When in fact bread cannot be picked up until 18th January!

.... Just a thought!

Kind regards
Rob

Excellent local bakery. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Open 3 days a week with certain offerings on certain days only. Order online ahead of time. Cash only for orders less than £5. Rotating weekly special. The bread here is more expensive than the grocery store, but still quite cheap IMHO, and we'll worth the few extra pence!
