GAIL's Bakery Gloucester Road

I’ve been this morning to get an almond croissant, which is usually good, but this time it seemed to be out of date, no almond filling at all. Quite disappointing.
Nevertheless, always very polite staff and great coffee.

The pastries are delicious, savory just as well as the sweet ones. The pistachio lemon and rose cake is a very special delicacy. The coffee on the other hand was a bit too sour, not quite my taste. But the pastries make up for it a 100 times.

One of my favorite spots to grab a quick and delicious breakfast, their coffees are good too! It’s a chain that can be found almost in many neighborhoods in central London. Highly recommended.

As a every single day customer, I got very frustrated with the new changes replacing the dark chocolate 75% by that so common chocolate syrups. GAIL’s was so far my favourite bakery because of the pastries and the unique Mocha. It’s now the same taste of all others coffee shops and definitely not my favourite one anymore. The Mocha got sweeter with a common taste.

Great coffee and great cakes. Decent seating area so was able to sit with friends for an hour or so on a Sunday afternoon.

Gail’s used to be for me the chain I would recommend to everyone. I considered their baristas well trained on preparing coffee, I liked the casual welcoming atmosphere. Now every time I go there I regret it. Especially that Gloucester Road branch. Reasons:
- coffee tastes bad and there is no effort taken at all to make proper foam, the latte art is forgotten skill
- the staff !! You are welcomed with a judgemental scan from head to toe, zero smile, zero interaction, even if the place is empty everyone is super slow, they look super bored and annoyed that someone dared to come to order a coffee
- their breads are good but the little baked things are actually overpriced and disappointing

Honestly I went there a couple of times because I live around and every time I tell myself “perhaps they just had a bad day”. It seems that every day is a bad day …

Called in 8am. I was hoping for a wider selection but there was a few interesting items. Cinnamon bun was tasty, latte was nice coffee. Got pecan crumb cake which was disappointing, dense and dry. Only the pecans saved the day.

They advertised babka by the slice or whole loaf; I asked for a slice and they said sorry only the whole loaf. I asked could they slice the whole loaf for me to take the whole thing and was told they're not allowed to use a knife. I think there was a misunderstanding 🙄

Iced coffee single shot. This coffee is my best coffee year 2021. I finish one cup of coffee and then had one more right away. I love this coffee although but small size.
