Love this bakery!! Great value for money and I'm always made to feel very welcome and greeted with a smile. Very sad to see a bad review and someone using the key worker card in that way. In these difficult times the staff at suckings have always been warm and friendly to me every visit which has made a big difference to my days. Just to also point out - any key worker should be aware that not everyone is able to wear a mask and not all health conditions are visible. We should be supporting our local busines and our communities not making petty complaints that could effect someone's livelihood, the majority of restaurants and food establishment are offering reduced menus to avoid waste and only purchasing what they need. If we complain everytime we cant demand to get our own way then this year has taught us nothing. I will continue to support this outstanding local business as they have supported the community by showing up every day that we needed them and a big thank you to the wonderful people that work there.

This used to be a great little bakery. However i was hugely disappointed by the attitude of the woman working there today. I had a short time slot in which to get some rolls for lunch, I had always been sold them before no problem. Today after waiting for the woman to finish serving a man with no mask on leaning all over the counter - despite the sign saying she would serve people without masks from the door, I asked for 4 crusty rolls. She conferred with another man and said they only had 8 left. I said that was fine, only wanted 4, she said she might need them for other customers later. I explained that I was a customer there now who wanted to buy them, but if she needed to save some I could just have 2. She said she couldn’t sell them to me as she wouldn’t make enough money selling them without fillings. I explained this was a bakery, which sold bread and I had been planning on buying other items too, though I didn’t need a filled roll. I told her I could pop to the co-op next door if she wasn’t prepared to serve me, but had wanted to support my local bakery. She was exceptionally rude and told me to go and do that! Considering the way covid affects businesses you would have thought she would have asked the first customer to wear a mask and that she would have sold bread in a bakery! Instead she was rude and greedy, refusing to sell to loyal customers in the hope she could make more money later on! I am sad if this is the new owner as the family who owned it before were very good. So I missed my lunch as I only had half an hour before my next appointment, I am an NHS keyworker. An appalling way to treat local, loyal customers. Hugely disappointed.

The owner's response yesterday to my review exemplifies her attitude to customer service. Being confused as to why she was refusing to sell me bread in a bakery (the only explanation she offered was that she would not make enough money) is not being rude. Neither is asking her why she couldn't sell them. So, on top of the appalling customer service yesterday she has responded with personal insults. Thank you for proving my point.

Lovely bakery and now serving Manzes pie and mash too!

Lovely staff, always so polite and will always try and accommodate you if you ask for something to be made up. 100% will go back.

Great bakery that does the best sandwiches. They are really well priced and well worth going to for pastries, breads, breakfasts and lunches.

Back in 2005, I studied at Kingston Uni while living in Surbiton from Texas. We used to stop in every morning and order a couple Chocolate Croissants. Still to this day, I miss talking to the owner and getting my daily breakfast. Hopefully next time I make it to Surbiton, I’ll be able to stop by. Wonderful place and wonderful owner!
