I love this place! Have been going there for years! Wide range of breads including olive bread, soda bread, Danish loaf, potato bread, etc. Their pastries and cakes are delicious. You have one or 2 options if you require a gluten free dessert. The flourless chocolate cake melts in mouth and you can accompany it by a good coffee. I was always happy with the service at times extremely happy. Highly recomended!!!

The price matches the quality- you’ll pay £7/8 for a coffee & croissant here but it’s worth it. The quality is great - if you’re a savoury kind of person, the ham & gruyere is a knockout. I do think the Swain’s Lane branch (near Hampstead Heath) is nicer (if you enjoy Gail’s Bakery hopping around north London).

A very cosy bakery and cafe in the centre of Crouch End.
They have a great selection of freshly baked pastries and cakes in the morning.

Had an Almond and Chocolate pastry and Vegan Hot Cocoa one morning before work. No complaints and I'd definitely be returning.

Beautiful place, nice coffees tasty bakeries, had my first Capuchino here ☕️🍪 the prices are sensible .. but it can be better by serving better service .. and another good thing about this place is they are considering the covid-19 self protection rules seriously, sorry for my broken english blah blah blah 🤪 ... anyways, you can see the hand sanitizers and the social distancing in the pictures.

I'm familiar with a few Gail's in London and this is my least favourite. The food and the coffee are obviously great and the same as the others, but the atmosphere and seating areas are bad. Firstly the fridge makes a stupidly loud hum. The seating areas are poor - noisy and cramped, and the area at the back is probably the best, but they often start closing it very early, putting the chairs up on the tables which says "we don't want you sitting here'. It just isn't somewhere you would want to sit in for very long tbh, which is a shame.

11/11/22 - popped in to grab lunch, opted for the chicken, chestnut and thyme pasty and the cinnamon roll, total came to £8. It was rather nice but a Friday treat.

Good selection of products. Love their cinnamon twist.

Staff seem pleasant too.

Only downside is, I don't like how the bake products are so exposed to customers with no covers.

One of my pet hate, hence why I don't visit as frequently.

There are dessert items, tables and chairs, not sure if its step free access or has disabled facilities.

Lovely little bakery. This is the second Gail's I've been too and it has a bit more of a small bakery local feel than the first. We enjoyed a few delicious pastries including their fantastic sausage rolls and a quiche. Service was good and prompt. It wasn't too busy as we visited late on a Thursday morning. I would go out of my way to return to this location.

Absolutely love Gail's handmade chicken and chestnut pie - superb. Their service, not so much. It is atrocious!! Been into Crouch End bakery 4 x and it was on the same (non existent) level on each and every occasion. Today, the woman with bright red hair restocking the fridge at the door was telling off her colleague for being late and the time he was taking lunch. In front of all the customers. Do this in private please! I felt so uncomfortable. My take away coffee took unreasonably long to make because she (redhead) and the dark-haired barista were too busy talking about how she (red head) told young lad off. Making me wait because you are gossiping and laughing because you embarrassed the young lad is infuriating. I noticed how the other young server rolled her eyes when a customer asked her for a pain a chocolat and changed her mind. This is what has forced me to leave this review. Yes you have your regulars but this is damaging your brand and I for one will instead go to elsewhere for better service which is readily available in the other bakeries and independent coffee shops in Crouch End.
