This was our first time trying Welsh Cakes and they were super yummy! They are freshly baked on site, and only 40p per cake. You can find this lovely bakery inside Cardiff Market.

I wanted try these after I saw MasterChef contestant, Zaleha Olpin recommend them on her IG stories. At first I wasn't sure how it would taste cos I thought that it looked dry but boy was I wrong..they were delicious and moist all the way through and very addictive too. The staff were very nice and answered all my questions very patiently. It's fairly priced and would definitely return to pick up another batch of the delicious Welsh cakes!

Incredible bakery - great assortment of cakes and treats and pastries, but to be honest if you're here for anything other than Welshcakes (or at least forego the purchase of them), you're mad.
They are simply incredible. Witness staff making them all in front of you, witness them frying and flipping them in front of you.
Only when you taste them and savour them and eat more than a dozen can you say that you truly have visited Wales.

Very RUDE staff, asked for a Welsh cake and made it difficult for us already as we didn't have coins. Then handed us a scone (?) Asked them again if it is a Welsh cake and said "you asked for a scone, you pointed to it!" Firstly, I asked politely for a Welsh Cake, secondly I didn't point at anything. Refused to give us a Welshcake at the end. So unreasonable and rude, didn't understand why would she treat us so badly. Will not visit again

The Walsh cakes need little introduction. But these freshly made ones from this small bakery at the Cardiff Market is just irresistible! To be honest, most of their pastries are very attractive, but the scones are the best I have ever had, another "must try" besides the Walsh cake.

I'm from the US and was in Wales visiting family history sites when we stumbled on Cardiff Bakestones in an arcade and figured we needed to try this heritage food. Now I know why I'm so grateful to be Welsh! These are delicious! We tried the traditional as well as several other flavors. Each and everyone was tender with an amazing mouth feel and wonderful flavor. They were heavenly! We went back within the hour for more of these delightful treats. The women at the stall were pleasant and skilled in their craft. It was fun to watch them crank out these delectable treats with ease. I hope I picked up enough of their technique by watching to make these back home for my family. We went back the next time we were near city center and were thrilled when we found the Bakestone shop in Merthyr Tydfil, which I learned is owned by the daughter of the Cardiff shop. Do yourself a treat and stop by Bakestone for Welsh Cakes. Try them all. They are wonderfully delicious. Be sure to buy extras to take home. They are exquisite warm off the bakestone, but we also loved them cold the next day. This is a piece of my Welsh roots I'm so glad I found!

Disappointing, Salted Caramel Welshcake was overwhelmingly sweet, no taste of caramel at all, just a whole lot of sugar.
Regular welshcakes were a bit bland and lacking in currents, but not that bad for 40p each. Did ask for 3 regular welshcakes, and got charged for that amount, but only got 2 though...

Hands down the best place for Welsh cakes in the world...(probably!)❣️ You can see everything baked and prepared right in front of you and they're always as fresh as a daisy. Fair prices, great offers, £4 minimum spend on card and always super friendly! A wide selection of cakes and all flavours of Welsh cakes! 🥳 This place can sometimes be quite busy but that simply proves just how great and popular they are! Love this place! 😁 Forgot to take a picture of all my Welsh cakes as I was just too eager to eat them! Next time!
